The adventure of Fellowship of the Blades – Storm of Jupiter in East Java, Indonesia.
Part One
Thursday.
The packaged was delivered to my house but I didn’t get the chance to open it until Friday morning.
Friday morning.
The SOJ was revealed and I was quite impressed with the craftsmanship of the blade.
I took pictures of the blade and here they are:
SOJ with signatures from the maker, Ross Leidy; and the members who had tried it: Seahorse, Cstrybos, Yogi_bear, and Peter79.

Here’s the side of the blade, very nicely done and quite symmetrical in thickness on the first and second plies.

A shot of the wing section.

When it got to me the blade already bore some (using Tommy’s words) “battle scars” on it.

If you didn’t look closely before, you could roll back up and watch carefully on the wing section picture and see something wrong on the blade.
The long and hard journey around the world had started to show on the blade.
I was wary whether the mishaps would affect the performance of the blade.
Friday afternoon.
I glued up the rubbers on the SOJ.
For the test I put Hurricane 3 Provincial and Tenergy 05 FX on the blade.
I figure I would try it and see whether it would play better with Chinese and/or Japane rubbers.
Here’s a shot of the blade while being pressed-down after the glue job.

Friday night.
Went to one of the oldest and renowned table tennis club in town.
There are 7 tables on the club, 2 with air conditioning.

Saturday night.
Went to one of the city famous universities’ table tennis club.
The place is used by university’s students and also Indonesian Table Tennis Forum members.
Not too good a place and tables but still get the job done.

And as it happened, member Tobhik who mentioned earlier on mytt that he wanted to be added on the list, also present that night and tried the blade as well.
I assume that he would write his comment of the blade on his own later when he’s back on mytt.
It was during this night that the blade accumulated another battle scar.
Here’s the photo of the damage:

Sunday morning.
I went to another one of the oldest and famous table tennis club in town.
They started with just a few tables and over the year the membership grew.
They now have ten tables altogether.
Here’s the additional/newer section of five tables:

Here’s the main section of five tables.

In the afternoon I finally took the rubbers off and signed it.

I offered to fix the blade and clean it up after I used it, but was told to leave the blade alone as is.
They wanted to preserve the blade in as is condition with the battle scars and such.
For appreciation of all the hardships the blade has endured so far, I took it out to dinner.
If the maker, Ross, were to be here I would have taken him out to dinner as well.
As such, I told my wife I’m taking her out to dinner.
She was quite happy since I wasn’t around for dinner for the last two nights getting busy with SOJ.
Well, she was happy until I took out the SOJ and put it on the table and took picture of the blade with the food, at which time she wised up.
No trouble in paradise, though, because I offered to give her a massage as soon as we got home.
As it turned out, it’s a win-win all around. Yeah!
Monday.
Packed and ready to go.
Here’s a final shot at the shipping company’s counter.
Packed it in sturdy cardboard box to better safeguard it.

So long SOJ, it was a great time having you around.
I’ll be waiting for your sibling to make its way around here.
May your journey prove to be long and adventurous.
The force be with you!
