For those of us that might like to try hardbat as it was played the 'real' hardbat days, which are the closest blades still being made today?

Howe close are they to the old and original hardbat blades?

Very close. I use the same wood and dimensions as the old ones on several models.

Which one is the same as the 5 ply Hock that Reisman used?

I made one for Marty a few years ago. It is oversized, same size and shape and dimensions as the Valor Big Stick, but with the same wood as the Valor "Lucky 5." I have two unfinished which I will probably finish one of these days and offer them on the Paddle of the Moment section of my website.

CHEERS!

Hi @gnopgnipster,

please tell me the whole amount of shipping costs for one blade to Europe ? Are the costs differing in the country of dispatch e.g. UK vs Germany vs Austria etc. ?

gnopgnipster, how come your versions of the Hock No. 72 and Hock No. 74 weigh about 20 grams more than the originals?

In the old Hocks the wood is very dry since it is over twenty years old. Although the thickness is about the same, my blades are two thin layers on the outside of the same thickness as the one Hock outside layer. there are also two layers more of glue in my blades. The moisture plus the glue adds weight. The handles in mine are mahogany wood as some of the Hocks. Again Moisture adds weight there. Some of the Hock blades were made of (72 and 74 models) different thicknesses. I have a thin Hock 74, and a thicker 74, same sizes but different weights. The thicker one I got from Marty Reisman many years ago.

I just weighed two Hock 74s I have and they came in at 93 and 107gr respectively. The heavier one being from Marty Reisman. The Valor Big Stick I just weighed at 103 gr.

The Hock 72 I have weighed 98 gr. The Valor Shark weighed at 106.

CHEERS!
