at your level.. shot backspin serve either to their Fh or middle mainly middle and maily short and low focus on that first then try and get as much spin as possible

The thread title is seeking for a lot of opinion. Best efficient serve differs on each person and level.

If you want to impart spin on the ball, you could use a brushing stroke at the back of the ball. Not pure push. You could combine brush and push to differ the amount of spin on the ball.

Enjoy the game. It is a never ending learning experience once you play and keep the ball on that 45 sq ft of space or should I say half of that space.

This is what I think, Sir.

High serve with jerky swing and maximum spin --> Schlagi (with deception of course)
High serve with fluid swing and maximum spin --> Vladi

'Simple' serve with jerky swing and maximum spin --> Timo
'Simple' serve with fluid swing and maximum spin --> Chinese Team esp. Zhang Jike

If efficient means simple (simplicity of serve) I will go with Timo's serve..

The trick is variation and deception. Doing every time the same serve is after a short time not effective because the opponent learns to return it well.

I find this one good. A chinese national team member with some variations of forehand serves and how to execute them correctly.
