A new blade by Yinhe using a layer of basalt fibres instead of carbon both responsible for a larger sweetspot. The advantage of the basalt is a much smoother touch.

I played the blade a few times and it is together with my Darker 7p-2a.7t the best off-blade which I had in hands so far. The Darker gives LN-OX a lower arc with more rapid sinking after bouncing from the table whereas the Yinhe shows a little better braking blocking topspins. Overall the 5ply Yinhe is faster than the 7ply Darker. I played the Yinhe with a Desperado/OX and a Victas 401/1.8mm. The latter generates superb spin on this blade.

Some pictures (=> too big for OOAK) may be seen here:
http://www.pimp-my-blade.de/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1574

The outer veneers seem to be American Hinoki.

Some more information: the German importer of Yinhe blades told me that the described version is a special issue for Europe with 1.2mm Kiso Hinoki outer veneer whereas in China the blade is sold with 0.9mm so called "american hinoki". He says that there is a great difference in touch between the two versions, the chinese one being much harder and a little faster. The No. Z7 VF version (=> 7ply) exists only in the chinese version.

p.s. by the way in Germany the No. Z5 VF is meanwhile sold out; so it was smart from me to order directly a second blade 8) .

Sounds like YinHe have cloned the Basalt blade made by Soulspin, a small German company. Soulspin had that composite on the market at least two years ago.

May be. Whereas the Soulspin blade is sold for 162 €, the Yinhe blade costs 75 €.

I can't quite feel right about them cloning other designs though... puts me off, especially when they copy the small companies, who often do a lot of R&D to come up with a good design, and want to recover some of their costs.

It is definetely NOT a clone. The only common component is the basalt fibre layer and nobody knows if different types of fibre sheets have been used. If this is a clone than any carbon blade is a clone of the first carbon blade.

The blade structures are very different:

http://www.soulspin.tt/de/technologie/basalt-faser.html

http://www.pimp-my-blade.de/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1574

Just compare the pictures showing the cross section of each blade.

Better buy it here
http://www.galaxysport.de/catalog/produ ... ts_id=2771

In China they sell only the chinese version with 0.9mm (not Kiso !) Hinoki veneer. There is a great difference in touch compared to the European 1,2mm Kiso Hinoki model.

The Z7 is the 7ply (chinese) version with THINNER Hinoki outer veneer. It has a totally different (touch much harder) and is a lot faster. I tried it and sold it.
