I normally use an inverted rubber on my FH but often I have a lot of errors for the smash. Now I think to change with an MP with a 1.8 or 2.0 sponge. The question is: which rubber to buy? :?: Help me please

medium pimples are harder to control than short pimples, so you might want to try a grippy short pimple first because the transition is easier..

I'd be looking for a fast short pips that smashes well if I were you. You need a fast short stroke and need to be up close for it to be effective.

As an inexpensive test, why not try 802 with 2.0 sponge or 802-40 with 1.8 sponge. Having a lot of errors with inverted, I would try 802 first. Try 2.0 sponge or go to 1.5 sponge if 2.0 still gives you trouble.

i actually wouldnt try 802 as there are other short pimples that offer more control and have more grip and will make a better transition.

try stiga clippa or tsp tyranno

I used to play with the same blade as you have (Spinlord Ultraspin) with Spinlord Degu on FH. It was very nice combo. It is unlikely that smash would be your only stroke on FH. Short pips would give you more variety in strokes on FH comparing to medium pips.
Legend 105 is nice pip also but it's not "true" medium pip rather soft short pip with some deception.

BTW, I had the same problem, ie smashing into the net too much, and tried pips on forehand to fix it, and it did solve the problem of getting them over the net, but the balls were a lot slower than with inverted because my stroke wasn't right, so it worked, but then I wouldn't win the point with it anyway.

I ended up watching the spin on the incoming ball more closely, and if its an underspin ball, I look for the logo, and if its spinning too fast to see the logo, I twist the paddle open a bit more to keep it from going into the net. It doesn't work every time, but it works a lot better than before, and a lot better than trying to play with pips on my forehand.

I'm just saying you might want to try that before going to all the expense and effort of changing rubbers and learning a new one...

Yesterday evening I was playing with an Armstrong attack 8 in my FH (1.8 sponge). Attack all the balls is very easy. For now I like it a lot. :)

mmm... but that's a short pimples! :|
Now I play quite good with the Armostrong 8M but however I try the best solutions for me.
Please suggest me the best combination, as you know, for attack whit the MP on FH: ;)

- sponge thickness
- sponge hardness
- soft or hard pimples
- width pimples

Many thanks

legend 105 is garbage. dont waste your time on it.nothing special about it. I have tried every short pips and medium pip on forehand.
short pips which is fast and disturbing ball drop---- androblow fish plus
short pips superfast with good spin --- butterfly flarestorm 2
medium pips with most ball drop/ disturbing 563-1 but it is slow, so you need to buy top sheet and put some esn or euro sponge

now with the new plastic ball I feel its the death of medium pips players as ball is slow, and does not have the same drop, but i would rather try fast short pips.

One person's garbage is another person's treasure though. I've tried rubbers that other people hates, and they work really well for me.
I've not tried the 105 though, so you may be right in this case.

This is a good point. You have to choose a rubber which suits your overall game. If MP fits the bill then well and good but you shouldn't change just because you are missing smashes. If you are missing smashes the first step is to practice and improve your technique. You should be able to smash soundly with any rubber.

We had a young kid rock up and start playing at out club last year. He end up finishing runner up in his grade first year in. I thought how? When he played so unco and with such a weird grip (he didn't even hold the handle).

I ended up having a hit with him and discovered he was basically playing with frictionless glassed rubber and far out.. My mind almost imploded with sickness while hitting with him. But the point is he was a prime candidate to play mp or lp on fh, it would have been so easy for him.
