Which Mid-Pip rubber Mima Ito (JPN) is using on her backhand?

She won the German Open singles last night. The commentator said medium pips. Must be the style of a school - she's the second Japanese woman player I've come across who plays like this.

According to Nittakus sponsored player profile she plays with Fastarc G-1 and Moristo short pips. But that may be old info.

Watched the video again last night. The commentator mentioned the medium pips on the backhand, and said he'd confirmed it sometime before the match. Mentioned Fukuhara Ai as well.

The way she played I believed its an SP not a medium pips.

The commentator kept talking about her medium pips, though, which has to account for something maybe. He seemed pretty convinced.

in my understanding,,there is no medium pips,,,well, meteor 71.1 and ritc friendship 729 755.2 and 729 563 and 563.1 and double fish 820a ...or many others are considered as an medium pips,,,but meteor 71.1 and 729 755.2 are medium (long pips) and the rest are medium (short pips).Ai fukuhara is playing short pips but for sure mima ito is playing medium short pips because if you watch the match you will see the amount of fast speed of medium short pips and also trajectory and sinking effect of medium short pips..and also medium short pips are the most difficult rubbers to master.

You're right, there is no official 'medium' pip, they're either long or short according to the ITTF regulation. I don't know why they don't create a 'medium pip' catagory, as it's always been a commonly accepted term.

She plays just like Fukuhara Ai, who does use medium pips. Apparently it can be used for attacking play. A bit beyond me, though, when I tried it...

Not sure why they'd have to have "official" long pips and short pips, either, unless there are specific rules which would apply to each category and not the other.

Looking at some pictures of her, and watching her match videos, I think it's moristo SP. Can't predict the thickness though. Probably about 2mm thick

Still looking for some short pips with the softest sponge available, preferably something with a LOUD speed-glue-effect sound
