As I mentioned in a recent post, I don't get to play much these days, and certainly don't have the time for serious training, so on the occasions when I get to play, I'm less concerned about what might be objectively the best path for me to maximise my development, and much more interested in what feels like it might be fun at the time. Today I felt like I might be able to spare the time to pop down to the club for an hour or two for a knock. It's close season now, so pretty much guaranteed a few folk to hit with, and nobody taking anything terribly seriously.

I dug around in my drawer of rubbers and blades and made up the following:

- Andro Hiloom
- FH: Spinlord Dornenglanz OX (Black)
- BH: Dr Evil (Red)

Glued them first thing this morning and headed down to the club at about 2030.

Had a really super time - played two fun matches, lost the first 2-1, and the second 3-0, but got to 9 against a player I've never taken a set from. Then I had a really long session practicing all manner of shots, especially enjoying BH blocks, chops on both sides, and also playing FH and BH strokes as normal, but with adjustments to the angle of the blade. Very effective and a lot of fun.

I also had a chance to play with the 'new' and the 'old' balls, and didn't really feel I was disadvantaged by the new.

Really super evening :)

So I've had this setup for more than 2 months now, and am really getting used to it. I'm twiddling frequently, which causes considerable variation and confusion, and I'm getting used to the feel and control. I won my best ever game last match, and am enthusiastic about next season.

Good read, good luck with your sessions.

As for me, I also had a session too yesterday evening at a friend's. Mind you have not played in 3 weeks and finally get to play my new blade and it felt great! In case you're wondering, I have a H3N forehand and Yinhe Moon backhand.
