Project: Thin Inverted "Chopping" rubbers

EDIT: I have updated the list to a grid similar to the player equipment spreadsheet. Please send me any new submissions, updates, corrections.

Here is the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Background: Due to my long time search for a thin inverted chopping rubber for my forehand, I decided to start a thread where we compile a list of such rubbers suitable for chopping all in one place. Such a list would have been tremendously helpful to me. I realize that many offensive and conventional attacking rubbers are able to be used for chopping (I currently use Omega IV Asia to great effect for chopping on my Modern Defensive setup), but I want to list specialized defensive smooth rubbers in this thread. Chime in with all you have used, and maybe a mini review, and I will update the original post with the rubbers mentioned.

Criteria:
Available from the factory at less than 1.8mm or less sponge (Can be available for more than that, but must be 1.8 or less to be listed here, and preferably defensive in nature).
Good for chopping either BH or FH

Format:
-Name:
-Sponge sizes:
-Review: (Can be link to thread or video)
-Comments: (Your experience, do any pros use it, where to buy, etc)

Butterfly Tackiness Chop 2

-Review:
-Comments: (Bego) also in 1.9 mm. Tested on Butterfly Defence Alpha, at 1.1 mm, 1.7 mm, 1.9 mm. This is my favourite rubber for chop and block play. :) I need to chop flat due to very perceptible to spin. The return is a very flat chopped ball that stay low. :) I prefer this than original Tackiness Chop.

Butterfly Tenergy 05

-Comments: (Japsican) Very good at chopping and still provides great attacking possibilities. Great at serves. Joanna Parker (Now Joanna Drinkhall) uses Tenergy 05 on both sides of a VKM, 1.7mm on the BH and 1.9mm on the FH. Wicked spin...watch the high throw angle on chops. US Peeps, this is NOW available in the US at tabletennisstore.us!!!

-Comments: (Glenholder) This rubber is the slowest of the 729's. It has a lower throw angle than the other 729's, but I would still call it a medium throw. I have glued at least 8 sheets of this, recommending it to others. It is a very accurate chopper, the 1.0 has the best control. It's still faster than Reflectoid, and a bit spinnier than Reflectoid too. Excellent chopper! With still enough pop to put away a point. It would not be used by a level 2000 player, more like 1500 and under. Also available in 2.0mm if you must.

Gambler Reflectoid
-Sponge sizes: 1.0/1.5
-Review:
-Comments: One of the best, especially for the price. Slow, great at blocks, stellar for chopping. I personally felt 1.0 to be a bit too "hard" (only adjective I could think of. 1.5mm is the best for this rubber. 2.0mm blocks the best IMO, but not as good at chopping. The rubber isn't spinny enough on serves IMO.

Giant Dragon Submarine
-Sponge Sizes: 1.0/1.5
-Review: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=14592
-Comments: (Japsican) Chinese tacky rubber, very good at chopping. Better at attacking than Reflectoid, as it doesn't bottom out. Not as good at blocking. Pushes vs. underspin were not spinny and my opponents were able to attack them easily.

10% slower than Reflectoid, but a bit spinnier. A bit softer than Reflectiod.
Same speed as Tackiness Chop, but a bit less spinny. A bit harder than Tackiness Chop, but still softer than almost any other chopping rubber.
This slow rubber is very good for flat smashing against spinny loops. Even thought this rubber is very spinny, you can hammer against loops with accurate wide angle hits.

Thanks Alex! Altered the format a little to make perusing the list easier. After it grows I'll alphabetize it as well.

2 more I just thought of..

Giant Dragon Submarine
LKT Pro

I haven't used it, but remembered
Stiga Chop and Drive

Question guys, should I alphabetize by manufacturer, or by the name of the rubber? So far they are one in the same...but moving forward I'll have to choose.

Yasaka MK V in 1.0mm is a very effective chopping rubber.

Aren't some of the suggestions a bit too thick to meet the spirit of the title ?

Yes, but i qualified that above. I said it must be available in less than 1.8mm but can be available in thicker sponges. At first, I also didn't want the list to make it appear as if some of the sponges sizes aren't available. I tend to think you're right tho, we should limit the list to ONLY show sizes for anything less than 1.8, and if larger sizes are chop-worthy maybe list them in the comments only.

EDIT:
There I changed the list to only include the thin sizes, but mentioned the larger sizes in the comments area.

These are rubbers that more or lest, imho, good for chopping.

I will add comment one by one only for rubbers that I ever used long enough, like a month or more. :)

Blocker chopper class rubber, that good for chopping, but can be used for passive blocking play close the table due to medium soft sponge. :)

WOW! Impressive list! Was this posted somewhere? Can I assume that everything above is available in thickness lower than 1.8mm?

That my own personal database, and I get the data from various sources, ttdb, old ttr, denis, ttd, ooak, etc. :)

How them is classified is by my own. :)

Most of them afaik available below 1.8, except a few that I put in due to being popular with defenders, e.g., PF 4 and Origin afaik not available < 2.0. :)

I need to double check the available thickness before put it here, so I shall add it one by one later

The whole original db is much larger actually. :)
