Has anybody used Xiom Omega V Asia? I was ordering some Grass D Tec S on Paddle Palace today, and they had the Xiom Omega V Asia discounted to $49, so I got a sheet. It sounded like the type of rubber that I am liking with the plastic ball, with a very hard sponge. Just wondering if anybody has any experience using this I'd be interested to hear, and also if you are in the U.S. and like it, you might want to pick it up today, since it's their "deal of the day".

I am interested to hear how this rubber plays. I always liked the Omega 4 Asia and couldn't understand why it was not a more popular rubber.

Doesn't seem like anybody has any experience with it yet, maybe I'll be the first! I'll be sure to let you know, once I get it and have a chance to try it using the plastic ball.

Looking for your forthcoming review and comparison to the other rubbers.

I tried it on a friend's. It's LIKE T64, but bot exactly. Feel is different

Received it today, and am looking forward to having a hit with it. The sponge is unlike anything else I've ever seen. It was black, very hard, and very compact. The rubber seems to be very tacky. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the Palio Thor's, which I've used often and has a hard sponge and tacky topsheet. I was impressed with the very professional packaging, and everything appears to be very high quality.

Had my first experience with the Omega V Asia tonight, and I REALLY liked it a lot. Was able to get a good amount of spin on my loops and serves, and it had good control for having such a hard sponge. Loops were fast too. It also had good touch, when I had to take something off the loop, I felt like I could place it where I wanted. It blocked REALLY well, and when I went to smash a ball, it put the ball away with serious force. It has a little bit higher throw than the Palio Thor's I'd been using, and was a little softer, and that helped me to lift against under spin quite a bit. I did still over hit a few balls, but once I adjusted to the speed it worked really well for me. For my first time using it, it was a really positive experience, I am looking forward to seeing how I can do with it moving forward.

Had my second session with it tonight, drilling against a friend of mine who is a long pips blocker, and lets me loop away at him. With either plastic ball (the Joola or the Nittaku Premium) I was getting a good amount of spin and a lot of power on the ball. I've been playing with my friend for a really long time, and he said he thought the rubber suited my game very well. With the Premium plastic ball, I got a serious amount of spin and pace. And with the Joola, which is slower and less spinny, I still got more spin, compared to the other rubbers I've been using. I think this one is a keeper.

Had another great session with this rubber last night, with a celluloid ball. I haven't played celluloid in about 3 weeks and I was interested to see how a "poly ball optimized" rubber would perform with celluloid. As I expected, it performed very well! I had to get used to the increase in under spin coming from heavy pushes with the celluloid balls (since even with the Nittaku Premium those don't feel as heavy). I was pleased that the set up wasn't too fast for me with the celluloid, and I was able to get a ton of spin with this rubber with celluloid balls. I'm a full convert now, this is my new forehand rubber for any ball!

Thought I'd just give a brief update on this rubber. I am still playing with it. When I used it with the celluloid balls I enjoyed how it played, but now that I'm playing more with the plastic ball, I'm absolutely in love with it. For some reason (maybe it's the slightly slower/less spinny ball) it seems that this hard sponge, tacky rubber plays extremely well with the new plastic balls. I still can get a ton of spin on serves and loops, it blocks and hits well, and it has decent touch in the short game. I don't feel like there has been a drop off in the spin or power I'm able to get on the new plastic balls using this rubber. And, it seems to be lasting a good amount of time as well. I've been playing 2-3 times/week with it on two blades, alternating the blade I use (to keep them both in the same state of "worn") and I feel like they are still playing pretty close to new after almost 6 months. If you are looking for a rubber to help offset any loss of spin or power due to the plastic ball, I highly recommend giving this rubber a try. I have it in max thickness in red.

i am currently using the Vega China and i like it, but i too am interested in using the Omega V Asia.

do you think it Omega V Asia is as tacky as Hurricane 3?

i remembered you using Tenergy when we last met, but you have switched, is it because of the poly ball?

I don't know that anything is as tacky as Hurrcane. But it does have a good track to it that lays. Tons of spin on loops and serves, even with the new balls. I'd most recently been Iain Juic 999 before switching last year but that just want powerful enough with new balls being a tad slower and l less spinny. This rubber makes up for that, and more.

Any more reviews for OVA? I am struggling between getting another sheet of Vega Japan in Max (vs. the 2.0mm I use now) or trying out OVA in 2.0mm. I'm aiming to get a little more speed with the new plastic ball I'm playing with more these days.

It should be noted that I play modern defense and chop quite a bit on the forehand side. I really like Vega Japan 2.0mm for this. I think I could control VJ in Max, but I am really tempted by OVA? Anybody tried both?

I havnen't tried the V, but I have and use the IV. I actually LOVE chopping with Omege IV Asia. I find just the right amount of catapult and spin without the bounciness of many tensors. It's got huge amounts of spin potential, I get netted balls with it often.

Note that I am using it in 2.0mm.

As for speed, I can't compare to Vega Japan, but it's somewhere between T05 and T64...leaning more towards T64.

Brush looping is great. Hitting is real good. Pushes are deadly. Medium throw.

Thanks for the info. From what I've read, the OVA is a little more controlled in the short game compared to OIVA as is the trend with new generation tensors. I think I may just have to bit the bullet and give OVA 2.0mm a try. I know I like Vega Japan, so I can always go back to that.
