A serve is more likely to go as I wanted if I have visualised in my mind what I want it to do. If I don't visualise it or I change my mind on what I'm intending at the last moment, or if I take my time and let my mind start thinking beyond the serve, hen I'm likely to muck it up. Sometimes that can mean a complete miss, sometime just means giving a serve that the opponent can take advantage of. You don't want too much or too little time, but you need your mind in the right place for it above all else.

Definitely. My routine at present is to throw the ball to the ground, and hit it back to the ground with the bat, three times, and then let the ball bounce three times quickly on the table, before serving. This feels like it takes a little too long, and I think that the bouncing on the table sometimes leads me to serve too close to the table.
