Hi All. I'm looking to buy a robot over the next few months. Would love some advice.
The following things are important to me:
- Spin independent of speed.
- Can give "no spin" balls.
- Sturdy.
- Easy to out up and take down.

Things that are not important to me:
- Multiple programs.
- balls per minute.
- particularly fancy drills.

I've been looking at some of the Y & T robots, or the RoboPong ones.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it!
Thanks.

Check out my videos of the iPong Master V300. Doesn't tick all your boxes but worth a look.

The iPong v.300 has two major things going for it:

1) It's portable. Easy to carry around with its net to set up at any table. If you get the battery box you won't even need electricity near the table or an extension cord.

2) Price. It's a LOT less than most, so if you don't really know if you need a robot or not (or think it might quickly be abandoned from lack of use) then you aren't out as much.

Had a look at the iPong Master V300. Might be a good starting point. I was originally thinking something a little more advanced. Maybe the Y&T S27, for the dual head and spin/speed independence, but it's true I don't want to waste that much $ if I don't end up using it.

The v300 has 2 wheels so you can very soon and speed independently however it is hard to find settings to keep the ball on the table. You can get a tilt stand but it can still be tricky.

I have found the Xushaofa very reliable.

Where and how do you get one? Not on AliExpress. Note the review on Greg's blog was from 2004 - 12 years ago!

I bought mine direct from Hong Kong (didn't realise it was 12 years ago - I said it was reliable!). The review mentions an email contact. As maurice101 mentioned, Table Tennis World sells them as well.

You always get what you pay for but just make sure the xushaofa for $1,500 is worth it compared to $230 for the ipong. The main problem can be lack of use. I bought the ipong as i wasnt confident that i would use it lots.

Did you end up using it Cobalt? I'm in country vic and the nearest club is 45 mins drive away. I don't have anyone to play with where I live, so apart from 1 night of competition, all hitting of any kind will be done on the robot. But obviously you make good point. I just don't want to find I love the robot and get frustrated by lack of features. Then the opposite would have happened - I would have wasted $230!
EDIT: Just checked out your videos Cobalt. Maybe the ipong is all I need. Have you found it limiting in any way?

I bought a SuperMaster 5 some years ago. I've had it in and out of use over that time and it fires away perfectly every time I set it up.It has varying spin and speed and frequency of balls and oscillation. It was under $700 and they bring out a new version every couple of years with improved features. So the new ones probably are further improved. I can't fault mine.

Some quick research suggests that the SuperMaster might be a nice compromise between the iPong v300 and the Y&T S27? My table arrives in early May. Superpumped.
