how is DG2 durbality? i heard its longer but i dont know how much

I'm not playing with it full time, it's on a backup bat. But I did play with it for quite a while and it held up against everything. No signs of wear after a few months now (Got it in Early January). And I'm pretty hard on my LP...lots of hitting. It's a good rubber but I went back to P-1R and Easy P because I prefer sponged LPs.

I notice in the video they are saying DGII 1.0mm?! Do they now offer sponge? I'd be keen to try that.

How does this do in the modern defence chopping game compared to the holy grail of Curl P1-R?

Could someone also please compare this rubber to Dawei 388d and 388d-1?

I doubt anyone has tried the sponged versions, but I could be wrong. Sponge offerings are new as far as I know.

I have a sheet of OX Dawei 388d coming in for my OX setup...as I'm trying to find a cheaper alternative to DG2. It's not insanely expensive, but it gets expensive with shipping.

i have played 6 hours with DG II and i can tell u some things...

comparing DG2 to DG1:
-both looks similar, shinny rubber, flat top pips
-DG2 is more tacky (more spin sensitivity)
-DG2 has better control vs no spin balls (due to more tacky)
-DG2 has worse control vs spinny balls
-DG2 has a lot worse spin when chopping a topspin (and i mean a lot.. with DG1 the same players couldnt topspin my 2nd chop, with DG2 they can topspin a couple of time in row)

DG2 for me its completly other rubber, a lot worse rubber than DG1
i am disapointed
DG1 is best rubber for my playstyle (but its durbality conviced me to try DG2)
i hope that tacky will wear off soon and maybe... DG2 will be more similar to DG1
cause for now its totally different, s*** rubber

what are ur opinions?

Well if from best ox pip like dg1 was u have now dg2 the worst pip... it can make u angry

With dg1 i can win with much better players and now with dg2 which has less distrubtion and spin i have problems with players which i was beating easly 3:0

Which would you recommend for a chopper that is struggling with no spin balls ?
Which chops Best and Which performs Best versus no spin balls

Using Dtechs 0,5 Black at the moment, but would like to test alternatives on my spare blade...

I know I should twiddle but I do NOT feel confortable at it.

I've actually recently started using this rubber for blocking and hitting close to the table in black OX and really like it. I feel like it handles hard loops well, and handles dead balls REALLY well. On my Donic Defplay Senso blade, I can drop hard loops relatively short, opponents tend to miss more from the off-speed of the return than "reversal", but it has confused a lot of players in my early experience with it. Also hits through under spin and no spin well, you just have to make sure to get the ball at the top of the bounce. There isn't much grip to work with (at least not compared to what I'm used to, rubbers like DTecS). I know some reports have said there is good grip, but that's all relative, for me I feel like really spinny shots grip far less by these than others I've used. I'm able to punch block slower, spinny loops and give players quite a problem. Attacking, if I snap my forearm and wrist through the shot, I'm able to generate a fast, flat ball that is difficult for my opponent.

Compared to the 388 D-1, that rubber is much more grippy and affected by spin and has a more difficult time with no spin. For chopping, you might prefer the added grip of a rubber like 388 D-1 or Grass DTecS. But so far in my couple of weeks using it I have had some nice success with the DG2.

I'm going to keep experimenting with it, but for my blocking/hitting game, I think it might be a good fit. Of course, after I play a couple of upcoming tournaments, I might change my mind.

Over the weekend I played in a tournament here in the US. For most of the day I used Friendship 755 and had decent results. But for my last event I switched to the blade with the DG2 on it and had some pretty encouraging results. Note that I am trying to transition to standing closer to the table and blocking more quickly off the bounce, using the Donic Defplay Senso blade, so my review is based on that type of a style with a slower blade.

I had two matches (one person didn't show up) and liked it. First match was against a guy rated around 2240 (my rating is only 1802). I was surprised how competitive I was able to keep points. And, I even won a game! I don't think I've ever taken a tournament game from anybody that good. Even against his loops. I was able to control the shots with the DG2, and I won some points because it took off enough speed to drop my returns short, going just over the edge of the table and causing him to miss. Then I played a guy around 1940 who I've struggled with in the past, and while I didn't win, every game was really close (-8, -10, -8), better than I've done before.

It's a very controllable rubber. I don't know that it would be good for chopping. To me, its strength is taking the pace off of balls and being able to slow down the game with a little reversal thrown in. As long as I catch the ball early I'm able to hit pretty well with it too, which is a big part of my game.

I have another tournament this weekend, playing in four events, and I'm going to give the DG2 a full testing. I'm having fun playing closer to the table and blocking with control with a slower set-up. I'm going to get my hands on some Xiying 979 because I've read that is a VERY slow rubber and I'm interested to compare it to the DG2.

Of course, coming from playing the Grass DTecS, everything probably feels pretty slow to me.
