I think the distinctive feature of his play is the modest looking, small strokes he makes with the pips. But he does have a full-sized killer swing with the inverted.

What I notice about him are the many small strokes which are required or made possible by the very hard and rigid blade. There's a small margin for error with such a blade but he compensates with a conservative playing temperament and I do like that a lot. I would rather play this conservative, high-percentage game but also play with a slower blade, myself. But Gao Shaolin is interesting because he stands at this extreme.

I bought Gao Shaolin's book and it arrived today. For an adult I am quite excited.
It's in Chinese and I hope to begin studying it today. I won't violate the copyright but I will - at least - review the book for the forum, if I do finish it. I started this thread because of Carbonman's high praise of GSL which I quoted above, because GSL has a lot of videos to study, and because he also wrote *this book*.
