Blade: Yasaka Dynamax 17 cpen (an older, walnut topped version of the current Dynamix 17)
Front: 388D-1 OX
Back: H3

I think the distinctive feature of his play is the modest looking, small strokes he makes with the pips. But he does have a full-sized killer swing with the inverted.

Use Google Translate for a rough translation at some of these links.

Pictures of the blade and some info are here http://wap.happypingpang.com/talk/topic ... 83dd7c24df
(The pips look expanded in this one photo... I'm not saying they really are.) The rubbers shown correspond with what Carbonman said he uses, below.

On the Long Pip League top ten list, where Zhou Xintong is #1 and Wang Qiu Yi is #6, he is #4:
http://www.lpleague.com/news/detail_172.html (use Google Translate)

There's one youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKmATUuSUjg

But there are many more videos on Chinese sites, for example: http://list.youku.com/albumlist/show?id ... g=1&page=1

Carbonman posted generously about him:
"Apparently Gao used to coach the Chinese Army team. I also heard he coached Wang Hao at some stage.

He is 58 and uses Dawei LP OX and H3 and constantly twiddles. His use of the LP is extremely subtle and his placement superb. His blocking is exceptional. Basically he just made everyone (including me) look ridiculous. He is very nice. When he gave me a pity point in the third game I smiled and thanked him in Chinese. He then proceeded to give me a couple of baby pushes so I could tee off on some loops.

He has beaten Australian Olympian Chris Yan a number of times including at least one 4-0 win."

Zhaoyang you just keep doing it over & over giving us this great content on this style that's hard to find.

A long pip league? Never heard of such a thing.

Thank you for all your efforts in bringing us more players to follow. I will add this person to the list.

Here's the video embedded. (just remove the s from https: when pasting the link between the youtube brackets)

This video cracks me up also. I love this style for against choppers. Finally they get a taste of their own medicine. :P

"oh you think you can keep the ball on table forever and out last the opponent? Try that vs someone hitting those backspin balls with long pips." #easy. :p

Again thanks. Really appreciate it.

I'm adding this video to my youtube playlist "Penhold Twiddlers w/ Long Pips". Subscribe if you want to be notified as I add to it or upload new videos.

What I notice about him are the many small strokes which are required or made possible by the very hard and rigid blade. There's a small margin for error with such a blade but he compensates with a conservative playing temperament and I do like that a lot. I would rather play this conservative, high-percentage game but also play with a slower blade, myself. But Gao Shaolin is interesting because he stands at this extreme.

To suds79:
The above video against the chopper goes well with another one that amused you, Wang Qiu Yi at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEaQ8_p2UQ4, and with Zhou Xintong vs Wu Yang at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmv_yuZqUUE. (I did see your tip on how to embed videos, thanks.)

I bought Gao Shaolin's book and it arrived today. For an adult I am quite excited. :-)
It's in Chinese and I hope to begin studying it today. I won't violate the copyright but I will - at least - review the book for the forum, if I do finish it. I started this thread because of Carbonman's high praise of GSL which I quoted above, because GSL has a lot of videos to study, and because he also wrote *this book*.
