Over two weeks not playing TT and I don't miss it one bit.

Japan is that good and more. We are disappointed that our trip to Japan was over. In one part I wished I visited more times when I was single. So much to explore and so much to photograph. I miss going out and shoot with my dslr. For sake of practicality of traveling with 2 years old I just had to content with a pocket digicam and at times with my phone. So difficult to take with one hand, while the other hand is pushing a stroller.

Image

But, now I know more about what camera I need to use for our next trip. The one where the zoom is electrical, with lever to toggle with one hand. Ha! Here's the short list of requirements for travel camera if traveling with small/er kids:
1. Compact size literally can fit in the jacket pocket/trousers pocket.
2. Electrical zoom buttons/lever instead of mechanical where you need one other hand to twist to zoom.
3. Can be use with one hand comfortably and safely. Prefer with some grip for safer hold.
4. Viewfinder, for bright outdoor where you can't see the lcd to take photos.

Image

Anyway, more stories and photos later, perhaps.

Managed to visit one of the biggest tt store. Not that big physically, but so much stuff. I could spend hours in there. And they actually had to kick me out of the store as I was the last customer and was out after their business hours.

That's great Rokphish,

I'm glad you were able to check out a TT store here,
I feel the same way when I travel without a DSLR, but sometimes it's more practical to travel light.

Yes, I'm glad that I decided to leave the dslr behind. Certainly would schedule at least 2-3 hours minimum for the tt store.

This looks promising, I held and tried the IV but felt not too confident operating it with one hand. Felt a bit slippery/not enough grip. I now use Fuji X30, the front side has finger rest for better grip, which works great one hand. But the mechanical zoom is the down side.

I've got an xpro1 with the same bumpgrip
I'd use a wrist strap/tether as well.
You can always get a stick-on cover for cameras. Forgotten what the shop was called, but they sold recovering kits in various rubbers/leathers for film cameras - leica Ms, nikon f's, etc.

Yes, i use strap for all my camera. Full strap for dslr and wrist strap for pocket. What's the term for the thing you referring to?

I was thinking of a something a bit stronger than those regular tethers on p&s - like a dslr neck strap in wrist strap length
Like this
Artist & artisan wrist strap - I use the neckstrap version of this on my 6d - it's seen 3 cameras in 8 years.

Here they are, new offerings from Butterfly:
- Butterfly Impartial XB
- Butterfly Impartial XS
- Butterfly Innerfiber Layer ALCS

Image

Interesting to note is that I assumed that the one with S in XS would be smaller, well, I was wrong. The XB has smaller pip.

They didn't have bare blade ALCS, they had two, one with T05+XS, the other with T05+XB. They were sample. They had extra XB and XS in sealed packages, but wouldn't part with them. I offered to buy the whole package with the rubbers attached, but a no go as well.

Only on sale after the official launching, which was Nov 21st. So, all I could do was took photos and didn't get to bring any back home with me.

Here are the XB and XS for some of you who want better view:

Didn't cross my mind to take better comparison pictures at that time.

Oh, by the way, they are soft and bouncy. They had the 2.1 on both on the ALCS.

I was going to get one each, or at least the XB, which was more interesting to me as I thought would be better for me to try coming from playing with MP.
