2-0: The same, but this time on his BH
3-0: Nets my BH chop
4-0: Sends my bump long
5-0: Misses my 'fish' to his BH
6-0: Misses BH chop
6-1: My 'lob' gets smashed to my BH
6-2: Miss ball on BH chop attempt
7-2: Misses FH after my weak FH drive
8-2: Sends my long serve to his BH long
8-3: Miss LP block to my BH

for places with less room, what about a gorrilapod (or any of the many clones).



You could attach it to any of the barriers, so long as the camera isn't fragile.

I have a tiny gorillapod I used to prop up on my side of the table next to the net. Main challenge was that small Canon photo camera drained battery very quickly in video mode. It was still useful, perhaps I will try it again.

Barriers are too flimsy, I think, to hold camcorder. There is one guy in the club who on the weekends sometimes attaches his DSLR to the AC duct with some interesting contraption, but you have to aim it pretty well, I think.

I was thinking of a smart phone and a smart phone holder on the gorillapod.

That should be light enough.

Y'know, that match had such a slow pace that sometimes, I felt like if I played either of them, I wouldn't get completely crushed (although I know I would still lose )

No idea whether either of us would crush you - both of us are around 1750, give or take few points, for what it's worth. As far as slow pace - I was playing defensively, pretty much no attacks whatsoever from me. It was a last game in the RR group between C and D players, so neither of us was advancing, and only rating points were on the line.

You probably should see some of your matches on video - you might be surprised how it looks . Let's face it - amateur matches look very different from pros.

Nice blog-
Im using a cut down grubba pro and have 2 defplays-they play similar.
how many f/h rubbers have you tried on your defplay.
im using tac c in 1.9mm-i dont miss much but im thinking of going faster.
why did you settle on FH: Baracuda 2mm

Looking back I only played with Baracuda on Defplay (1.8 and 2.0) and Marder II (1.5), but only for a very short time. Got Baracuda originally more or less sight unseen, based on what I've heard: very good spin, durability, and not terribly fast. Pretty much works as advertised. Right now playing with 2.0 mm version, since it gets more oomph on FH (heavier LP helps too).

Might try Bluefire M2 I have somewhere in my pile of rubbers, to see if it helps with attack. May be will move Rasant Grip from VKM to see how it does too.

just read the blog-why did you settle on the defplay over the other blades.i really like the defplay for blocking and control.
if you can get a cheap grubba pro i would go for it.Ill buy it if you dont like it

It's really hard for me to pinpoint why - its main competition was VKM and JSH, which are heavier (and I still have both). I guess at the moment I prefer lighter setup, to a degree, and I also think Defplay is flexy, which might help with looping. I still occasionally try the other ones, but also attempt to stick with one setup for league and tournaments.

Don't know really - I guess I just like it. Also - I am not much of a blocker, especially with pips, trying to stick with chopping as much as I can.

I understand.You may go back and forth a bit with blades till you find the right one(possibly the defplay ).
i like the senso but have the classic aswell(untried)
