Hi!
I'm classical (vs offensive players) or modern (vs players who don't want to attack me and underspin all the time ;) ) defender. I play VKM+Victas Vs>401 1.8mm by this time. However i think it's a bit too fast rubber for chopping from semi-distance/next to table. I think about changing it to: 1) one of Btf Tackiness Chop (maybe CII) 2) TSP Triple spin shop (only 1.0-1.3mm :/ ). However, I think i'm able to loop every rubber because there are many situations where i hit loop too strong near the table with Vs>401 so... 'my hand is fast' xD Some people will say 'take 1.5mm sponge Victas' but i guess there are more as good as vs>401 rubbers i could try to play :)
My requirements for new rubber:
-being a bit slower than Vs>401 1.8mm
-even easier to chop than Vs>401
-being able to loop with it next to table (don't have to loop far from table, i do it very rarely)
-it can be a bit softer

Maybe Donic Slice 40CD?
I have not tried this one, only the old one.

But specs seems to full-fill your wish.

This Globe rubber is actually a very good rubber also, and Cheap.

Sauger Tröger Secret Flow Chop
1.0 or 1.5 mm.

or ...2.0 mm Juic 999 Defense ( not the Elite one),slower than Victas.

1.5 mm Victas 401 on Nittaku Tiluna

I have been playing with Marder II lately. It is much softer than 401. Very good spin. Service and short pushes just as good as 401. Loop has a much higher throw (not sure is a good thing if you play close to table) and I can land more balls safely with my loops. Chopping is easier than 401. Feel is much softer than 401 so if you are coming from 401 it may take a couple of sessions to get used to it.

if you rely on blocking close to the table the Marder II is much more spin sensitive than 401. You have to really keep your blade closed. I do rely on blocking more and chop only occasionally so this is a deal breaker for me.

I'd still go with 1.5 mm Victas 401

Ok, many rubber to choose. Easier to chop, slow, although a little bit harder to loop compared to Vs>401. You need thicker rubber, 1.8 mm is minimum, to enable looping. ;)

Gambler Reflectoid
Giant Dragon Submarine
Butterfly Tackiness Chop
Donic Slice 40
Butterfly Tackiness Chop 2 (My favourite)
Tibhar Super 40 Defense
Donic Quattro A'Conda Soft
Juic 999 Elite Defense
Andro Backside 2.0D
Stiga Chop & Drive
SpinLord Marder

(Still saving for Donic Slice CD, will comment after tried it)
