I actually played against Earl in the Arizona Open and took a look at his paddle. Blade was some Stiga defensive blade, something with "Carbokev" or so. Rubbers were T05 and Curl P1R.
I actually led 10-5 against Earl in game 2 but blew it.

Hmm...looking at his videos, it looks like his LPs are grippier than P-1R.

Because of the Ma Te thread, someone theorized Ma Te might be using Juic Leggy because it's offered in thick sponge and is SP like for certain strokes. Maybe he's changed again since then of course, but still doesn't look super P-1R-like to me.

So I looked up on Paddle Palace, and saw a review from Earl Alto about the LP and how well it worked for him:
Quote:
Best Long pips for deception and spin
These pips are very spinny and still has very good reversal. I play as a chopper and often my opponents ask whether I have short pips cause of my loaded underspin pushes. Ive tried all types of long pips from tsp P1r to palio ck531a and non have gotten as many confused faces as the Juic Leggy. Earl Alto 2012 U2400 Champion

Who knows when that review was done.

oh wow nice. I like that he isn't so so good that almost all his chops are so low and long. Instead he is more human lol. But that makes it even better to watch as he isn't quite a low enough lvl to make loads of unforced errors but not a high enough lvl to look like something I can not achieve
