Not the weekend yet, but this is a definite must-see. I can just imagine him bandsawing all those parts out of that beautiful plywood - I've got several large pieces of it salvaged from a lab instrument shipping crate.

He does remind of.. um, Edward Scissorhands for some reason... There's a couple of videos about how the thing works, and he sounds like Michael Schumacher when he speaks... And yeah, it was done with a bandsaw (not laser-cutting).

Was thinking of going to see this movie, it's been stirring up quite a bit of controversy, so I looked up some trailers. It's this HUGE budget Chinese-American movie, with lots of big Chinese stars in it and .. Matt Damon (strong American accent and all). What's really striking is the difference between the English trailers:

and the Chinese ones:

Note what's missing.

See the World War Z scene.. around 0:58. Looks like yet another glorified zombie movie (there've been too many recently..).

Did I go see it? Naah... And in the paper it said the movie's bombed in China.

I posted a comment under the Chinese trailers on YouTube, asking what happened to Matt Damon.. In the English trailer, you get the impression that the movie is ABOUT Matt Damon's character.

Apparently here instead the emphasis is on color coded warriors. Five top level ones, anyway, and the blue warriors are women. The blue women warriors are seen jumping off platforms while wearing bungee-attached rings round the middle. It seems most of them get eaten, too.. seems suicidal, somehow, probably can't keep doing that for very long..

Not a video, and it isn't the weekend yet, but a very interesting article nonetheless. Starts out as a science article, and then.. well, you should read it all the way through.

Got a free hour? Preferably right before bedtime.

Although I owned a Subaru and loved it, this bobsled run is rather silly IMO.

I'm surprised they allowed it - aren't bobsled tracks easily damaged? They use them for luge and skeleton as well, I think.

Same idea as a potato cannon, I guess, if the potatoes were inflammable.. Definitely wouldn't work with a plastic ball..

Just a wild guess, but they're probably doing The Nutcracker on New Year's Day.
