A supposedly "German" brand (note the German flag everywhere), so why is the "cataloge" mostly in Chinese? Nice assortment of blades, there are even rubbers listed, but none of them are the same as the three you see under "Skitt" on the ITTF website.

I'm wondering if there really is Skitt stuff being sold in Europe. Lots of small brands there, e.g. Imperial. Small brands get their stuff OEM'ed, they don't make it themselves, so some of this stuff might actually be legit and be for sale in Europe.

Here's where they claim being "German":

Note who's selling this - XVT - which means they probably make it. Might order one, it's cheap enough...

There was some Skitt equipment sold here in the US about 20-25 years ago, but it kind of disappeared. The blades at that time seemed to be cheaper copies of Donic and Stiga models.
I had a Skitt all around blade that played just like a Donic Appelgren all around.
Even then the Skitt stuff was kind of suspect and looked down on, one rival dealer told me the K in Skitt was really an H. :o

I think I'm gonna try the T3 hinoki pen. Im sure it's not be real hinoki, maybe juniper or pine haha. I wonder how these supposedly hinoki 5 ply blades play. Are they bouncy? Soft? Hard?

Interesting shop. If I ever visit Manila I'll have to visit them.

With hinoki blades, often just the face plies are hinoki. In general, it feels somewhat soft. I don't think they'd use pine, but there are other species of cypress and cedar that might work. Hinoki isn't exactly rare - huge forests of it were planted in Japan after 1945 that haven't been touched because imported wood (from Indonesia, the Phillipines, Malaysia, Thailand) was cheaper. So much so the pollen is a major cause of hay fever. Old growth Kiso hinoki's a different story, though.

Hmmm.. About 45 peso to the dollar? 850 pesos would be a little under USD20, then... Not terribly expensive. They've got a Arylate Carbon (like the Viscera) for 2100 pesos, about USD45 - hmmmmm...... Looks like a penhold blade, though.

That K01 Skitt blade is still "on sale" (probably will be forever "on sale" ) for USD5.90:

Here's some Skitt rubber:

Remember "God's Crossbow Sponge"? Here's "Red Devil Cake Sponge". (In the US there's this stuff called "Devil's Food Cake".) No ITTF, but it does seem to have moderately large pores:

I admire your extensive knowledge on blade woods and history.

Yes, you should visit them. They have shops scattered throughout Manila. Can't help but get inspired by your love towards cheap blades haha. I don't compete in monied contests so what's the use of buying expensive equipment? And besides, I really don't have the spare dough haha.

Don't know more about hinoki than what I read in an article that came out in the Sunday paper a few months back - it was about hay fever in Japan! Hinoki and another Japanese cypress called sugi (a.k.a. Japanese cedar) were the causes. Turns out there's even a Wikipedia article!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hay_fever_in_Japan

The upshot is there's plenty of hinoki in Japan, if anyone wants it...

By the way, table tennis blades are mentioned in the hinoki article:

Nice, interesting articles. I don't wanna get involved too much in the behind-the-scene of blades. Knowing meself I might get too technical and begin making blades haha. I got interested in all things guitars during my college years and fell in too deep in my interest that i end up designing and building guitars for myself and my friends. It got worse when I begun designing a CNC machine to carve electric guitar necks and bodies using computers and 3d programs. Here is my thread, sorry mostly in our language:

Going back.. Hinoki being soft needs hard rubbers?

That CNC router looks neat! If you ever start making blades it might come in quite useful!

Some years back I was looking into building a CNC foam cutter for foam wings (for model planes). Same concept with the threaded rods driven by stepper motors.

Yeah, that's what I've seen people write - hinoki blades "feel" soft, so use hard rubber/sponge. Which makes me wonder - does this mean all Chinese rubbers (barring Reactor Ckylin, which is atypically WAY soft) will work, because they're all harder than the hardest Tensor? I have three 7 ply all-hinoki blades - a Darker 7p-2A, a Nittaku Septear and - oh, wait, I have THREE of these - the Yinhe Kiso 7, that makes five total  . (The last was REALY hard to get - one was special ordered through Tenryu, the other two I bought in Bandung.) So far, they all feel OK with Chinese rubbers of various kinds (they've been sitting in my bag for some months now since I've gravitated back to the N11). More vibration than with the N11, also (aside from the Kiso 7) slightly slower (actually, the Darker is quite a bit slower). The Kiso 7 is about the same speed, but you do feel more vibration, quite nice - if it weren't an extra 5 grams in weight.

So have you tried the T3 Hinoki? Any updates?

I live close to this store and I plan to pick this up too or the Yinhe 5 ply one. I'm currently using a cheap heavy 7-ply premade with new rubbers. It's fine but I expect very heavy splinters after taking off sheets as I did not seal before gluing.

Interesting... I always thought Coppa was Donic! I remember when Donic first appeared in the US - they sponsored the first Duneland tournament I ever attended, back in the late 80s. Imported by this guy called Gunther Schroeder. Had a daughter called Janine who must've been 12 or 13 at the time, who beat me in one of the ratings events...

So I wonder what the story is with THESE Skitt blades... Maybe just mis-appropriation of a brand name? Like all those "Timo Boll" rubbers you find in China...

I'm gonna get in touch with the supplier soon.

It says "sold out" but I'm going to bet they have a couple of unsold "Skitt" Cpens in there since few people are looking for both Skitt and Cpens.
