She missed lots of FH attacks. And Petrissa played very relaxed and comfortable, never stressed by Amy's anti or pips or weird angles. She could find a rythm against Amy, unlike most orher.

Also her sister has practiced many hours against her and doesn't get put off by the unconventional spins from Amy, like normal players who aren't used to it.

Petrissa is WR36 and Amelie is WR96. No need for other explanation.

That might be true for this game (although I doubt it because they know each other very well). But her previous results tell otherwise. Even us, amateurs, know playing with two sides not capable of producing spin, isn't viable at that level. If you can't open a rally by producing topspin, then her hitting game nor anti game can benefit from that.

I beat players rated higher than me all the time, especially the first time I play them. But people at my club rated lower than me often beat me because they're used to my game. That's the life of a material player.

That's strange. I know a lot of people with who I train regularly and they still can't beat me. Trick is to play differently of what they're used to and once they're upset in their mind, play your strong game.

IMHO (YMMV etc.) no, that is the life of a material player who relies too much on their material.

I used to play with a senior guy who played with anti on the BH. For a player who had never played him he was hard to beat. He went to the Detroit Teams tourney one year came back with a 2000 rating. In local club league was below 1800 rated players. He lost his rating points to them in local sanctioned tournaments.

I had rating of 2000+ by the end of last season. In my club I lost regularly to players with 1700-1800 rating.

With the change to new ball it seems that I am losing against new people with 1800 rating as well, althought it's not all about material, but also lack of spin which affects my best shots.

To me Amy's game against her sister looks same like my play against club members: you can't do much with material rubber, and it has no effect of inducing mistakes. Sisters have propably played ten of thousands set and there is nothing Amy can do.

She is a Joola sponsored player, so all Joola equipment. She used anti on the BH and short pips on the 4H when she got her highest World Ranking #47.

At Joola. her equipment use is not current.
