hello,

I have been dealing with table tennis elbow for several months.

Blade: Nittaku Shake defense
FH: DHS Hurricane III 2.1mm
BH: Milky Way Neptune LP 1mm

I want to try different equipment to lessen the stress to my elbow.
A blade with more speed, same weight or less, and control similar to my current blade, does it help?
any suggestions for rubbers also?

I recommend this rubber to fix your tennis elbow. It can fix tennis and golfer's elbow as well as other wrist problems.

Get to a physiotherapist and they will inject some steriod hormone. It will make the pain go away almost immediately.

1. Get the injection for short-term pain-relief.
2. PT will give some exercises to stretch and relax tendons.
3. PT will later on suggest some exercises to strengthen surrounding muscles.
4. Apply plenty of ice and heat to the elbow before and after exercises.
5. Try to use some compression or taping or elbow supports to prevent re-injury.
6. Foam roller, or elbow roller, etc whenever you feel tightness around the elbow.
7. Wrist will Aggravate the elbow problem, Shoulder will release the elbow load.

Try not to get re-injured. Try to go slow and less stress and strain on the elbow.

Get treated PROPERLY and don't try self-"therapy" else you will not be able to play from 6 months to 1.5 years! Or worse end up giving up on Table-tennis.

Don't expect to get back to your "previous" performance anytime soon.

Also POOR MECHANICS usually cause this problem. Your stroke, play-style, bad habits, poor position/ movement is a probable and most likely cause for the injury.

FIX YOUR BODY AND YOUR GAME ! Re-Injury will mean complete and utter failure/total-disaster.

Now it is up to you to do the right things for you get back to fitness.

I had tennis elbow starting up when I was using a heavier blade like you are, and when I switched to a lighter blade that was more in the 70-80 gram range, my tennis elbow went away very quickly, so if you're not opposed to balsa, you can certainly try a lighter blade. Looking at your combination, the LP you're using is more for long-distance chopping, given that thick sponge, whereas the blade you're using is more known for at-the-table blocking. You could try something like the the Donic Defplay Senso, which is very light and might be better for classical defense.

+1 on this advice - lighter blade will definitely help (Defplay is awesome), and so will thinner rubber. One other thing to consider - your technique might be contributing to this problem as well, and might even be the main reason - if your FH swing is all arm and no body rotation, you are probably putting more stress on your elbow than needed.

Your set up looks like it could be contributing (oversize blade with h3)
You could get a standard size def blade like cos3 or reduce the head size of the Nittaku blade to standard,maybe use an ox pip and look for a lighter alternative for h3
Reducing the weight of my set up to around 140g got rid of my tennis elbow
Adding grip to the handle helps also due to it opening the fingers a little and you dont have to grip as hard.I would avoid blades with wrb/senso handles,the vibrations won`t help(I filled my Defplay senso handle with expanding foam)

Same problem. Just switched to TSP Black Balsa 3.0 (65g), with Rasant 1.7 and Dornenglanz OX. Never played with anything lighter in my life. I also just ordered a compression sleeve so we'll see what happens...
