Been using short pips on FH for 2 years now.

Durability of Dolphin is not the best. You'll see separation from top sheet at times and pips on edge will pop off. Another criticism is getting consistent sheets is a problem. I've gotten different sponges and top sheets with both the tuned and untuned versions. The most consistent sheets came from Japsko at a higher price of course.

Very fast, spinny like inverted and great sound. When tuned, the best I've ever played in terms of speed and spin with ok control. Very hardcore dipping effect on excellent kill shots.

Japsko has started carrying them again. Another drawback is price. High for pips.

Considering all that, you might want to give them a try if you want SPs for hitting.

Thanks Gus! This is definitely a pip I want to have experienced...

What's the difference between the tuned and untuned, in terms of feel and play, and how quickly does the effect mellow? I'm a little skeptical of tuned stuff.

At Japsko I think you can only get the factory tuned yellow sponged one anyway, so it may be academic.

Do I remember there being a purple sponged one too at some point?

The purple sponge was the one I used. The effect lasted pretty long like two months or more, by effect I mean mostly sound. Speed was almost always there.

Like I said the main problem is durability, if you play a lot you'll have to change it regularly.
