I bought two sheets of 0.5 dawei 388d-1 from eacheng and they arrived. But the strange thing is that they have different colour sponge. One red sponge and the other a cream/white sponge. It's exactly the same rubber I bought (just regular 388d-1 in 0.5) and the topsheets are the same, but the sponges are different colours. Why would that be?

Did people also find the sponge on the 388d-1 to have a real rubbery feel to it?

Anyone ever tried this rubber on a JSH blade? What's it like?

For your first question, no idea. I just googled the rubber to see it's images and I saw a few different colours of sponge. Why? I'm not sure. Could be a manufacturing error if it was a one off but since I've seen a few, I'm not too sure.
It could just be the rubber comes in different sponge types, and isn't specified, but that seems quite unprofessional to just hand out different sponge types without choice. As you know, generally black rubbers are said to be spinnier, something to do with the dyes, mabye the dyes used to change the sponge colour has an affect.

For your other Q's, I haven't personally really tried the rubber so can't say

I suspect Dawei outsources their manufacturing to different factories (cheapest bidder?), resulting in possible large variations in manufacturing. I've also seen sheets that are very different to each other, and even blades with different handle shapes and length. Some of their gear is quite good, but I've never seen as much variations between batches as Dawei (we were a Dawei dealer for many years).
