*Groan*... As though this has been beaten to death over and over again:

Apparently anything qualifies, even Sanwei T88-I. It IS amusing, how this almost 10 year old rubber, is still the one that dominates among the pros and is the one for which everyone is looking for a replacement...

Thanks, I know it has been discussed many times. But I've never seen a real synthesis.

I like your optimism - 'previous 9 threads did not reach consensus/synthesis, but mine will'.

Oh.. forgot about the big daddy thread of them all:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15710

There will never be a consensus - too many criteria, too many people with opinions, and too many pretenders to the throne. Some of these might (in the opinion of certain individuals) even be "BETTER" than Tenergy, but then again - based on what??

Incidentally, anyone have a look at the LARC recently? Two new Tenergies coming soon - 05N and 09C. And no, no pips out Tenergy yet..   (There IS a long pips Rasant now, even an OX version, so you never know..)

Yes that's right. Also I don't agree with some of the ones on the list, but others may not agree with some of mine. I'm sure most of the latest rubbers of the major brands could make this list, and are probably closer than many old ones on the list above.

Thanks for the poll! I just bought all of those rubbers to find the best Tenergy alternative for me!

Palio AK 47 blue sponge is the best true replication of Tenergy sponge.
At present time, it is getting very popular choice with Russia's clubers.

Igor often posts stuff that's off the wall or not related to the subject at hand, but this might be worth investigating, considering it costs all of 12 bucks including shipping:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Palio-A ... 17695.html

I've been staying away from Palio, having received quite a few bum sheets (delams, dish problems, etc.) but this might be worth trying. Of course, I'd also need to buy a sheet of Tenergy 05 to compare it with... The new AK-47 comes in three "colors", by the way - blue, red, yellow. Blue is the softest (38-40 Degrees Chinese) - and the cheapest, yellow is medium (42-44) and red is hardest (45-47).

Given that 40+ balls are heavier and slower than celluloid - that is, effectively making rubbers slower compared with how they were with celluloid - maybe Tenergy’s speed now falls within the usage and control envelope of a wider range of players than before. I wouldn’t rule out going back to T05 sometime.

The cost objection to Tenergy remains, although maybe ameliorated by its playing durability, provided you don’t put a hole in it prematurely.

OBSOLETE PRODUCT ..

Tenergy superiority is nearing the end. Slowly and yet steadely.

Tenergy rubber is not the only pebble on the beach, nor is it the only fish in the see. Every major manufacturer has now offered an analogue rubber similar to Tenergy.

Look here, please, many players opted for rubbers other than Tenergy, and now they can do pretty well without Tenergy.
https://tabletennis-reference.com/player/detail/416

Tenergy prime-time is in the past, it is an obsolete product, out of data.

Many players? That's just ONE player. And he's ranked 654th. Who cares about him. Check these guys out:

Note what they have in common (besides high world rankings). :-P
