Bat, blade or paddle.

I use bat when referring to one with rubber on it.

I use blade when talking about it without the rubber.

The other is for when I am up the creek. :)

It seems that people largely from other countries than Oz will refer to it as a paddle. Around here I have not heard it called that.

lol i mean specifically the thing on the handle with brand/make name: https://i.imgur.com/j2yzjEY.jpg.

reason i wanna know is because i wanna make sure the shop i order from places the rubber on the right side, so this would be a good reference.

Just branded or logo? The most important thing is to specify which is your FH rubber. Shops that assemble bats will ordinarily put this on the branded side.

both, no? it's the thing that looks like it's made out of glass/plastic,

i see. so if i specify which rubber i want on FH they'll put it on the side with the brand name. that's a simple solution to this i guess, thanks.

Yep it's called the lens and this is usually considered to be the forehand side of the blade.

Yes, sometimes also called 'logo' or 'plastic insert'.

Generally I prefer the logo on the backhand side as it is more comfortable under the palm rather than finger tips. On combi bats of course no choice.

Manufacturers of course want it on the fh side so it can be seen = free advertising

Anybody else get super annoyed when the lens isn't flush with the blade? So you can feel the ledge when the lens is sunk down into the handle?

I used to, but now just shrug it off... This happens from no name brands to the top brands. Good thing I now buy most of my blades personally so I get to choose.

Also, adding the placed crookedly lens to this complain. But, to be fair, the lens part is a bit hard to do perfectly and takes a bit of time to do perfectly one by one. I'm glad some moved to etching and/or forego using the lens on the handle.

I also cringed to see some brand put some ornaments (glued on) on the handle.

All my Yinhe blades had these perfectly level, my one Stiga blade has it sticking out 1mm.

I used to prefer ones with the lens slightly sunken
