I have recently purchased a Joola CWX blade at a discounted price. I am an aspiring modern defender coming from a double inverted setup, so this is my first encounter with the dark side.

What LP shall I put into my BH side?

These are some of the key points to consider:

1. I am new to LP use. Please let me know if I shall get OX or sponged.
2. I have a tendency to chop on my BH side although I have a decent attacking backhand.
3. I want to be a chopper at mid distance with a variation of attack near the table (twiddling, chop block, etc.)
4. I do not want to limit my usage of LP by just blocking and waiting for my opponent to commit errors.
5. I have a working budget of around $6 for now and will just upgrade once I get a grip on how LP works.
6. I am planning to get the blue-sponged Yinhe Moon Speed on my FH. (Any other suggestions within that price range for my FH rubber?)

Thanks in advance!

It would help to know where you are located, but I suspect 6$ budget pretty much guarantees that you are looking at Chinese pips in OX. colestt.com probably has some leftovers he'd sell you for 5$ or so (assuming you are in US, otherwise shipping will kill it).

Does not matter which one you'll get to get a feel for LP, so do not overthink it.

PGPG is right, Chinese rubbers only.

$6 bucks is pretty limiting. I don't think, after shipping, you can find a pip that cheap anymore. Even Dawei 388d is 6.38 on AliExpress. Just checked again....there is only one LP on AliExpress that is under 6 dollars and it's Zeus. On TTNPP only Dawei 388D and D-1, Palio CK531A, and 755 are under $6.

Instead of "best pip" perhaps you need to ask for any LPs that are less than 6 bucks because it's just a few, and as pgpg said, they're all OX.

755 is good and kind of grippy. I'd do a thin sponge 0.5 or OX. Dawei 388d and 388d-1 both chop very well. I favor 388d but I wonder if I'd really notice the different if I was blind.

If you increase your price point to $10 USD, then you'd have a lot more options.

Sorry about that. I'm from the Philippines, where OX LP currently ranges from PhP 200-300 ($4-6) but there are too many options. So if I increase my budget to $10? What would be a list of a good starting LP, and their properties?

I'm from the Philippines where OX Chinese Pips are ranging from $4-6. So no problem about shipping, I just converted most of the prices from www.pingpongonline.com
If I increase my budget to $10, what LP would you suggest and why? Thanks!

Cloud & Fog 3 would be my choice from their selection under 10 bucks. Pretty good all-round including chopping and attacking.

Are you more of a close-to-the-table blocker or mid-distance chopper?

Dawei OX 388d-1 is only $6 from China. It would be a good choice.

I have purchased a Globe 979 OX and I am really liking it on my Joola CWX. :)
