The commentators did mention in chen weixing match that they did not formally check each others paddles whatever that means.

Also, can anyone explain his shot that looks exactly like a counterhit but he uses longpips lol? He almost never chops and instead has some crazy pip shots and one of them is like a counterhit one.

The problem is they are worried about his 4H attack if they make a weak return, causing unforced errors.

Maybe, but that doesn't explain why they can't read his serves...
I seriously had the feeling his paddle wasn't legitimate at all. His pips did things pips can't do normally and his FH: if I may take a guess... Boosted and not uniform gripwise.
I can understand Kreanga losing (he isn't great against pips), but Samara and certainly Weixing (he plays pips himself)... I even was cheering for Samara, an attacking player. He isn't my hero: that's for sure.

I just received a sheet of Dawei OX 388d-1, haven't used yet, they are the softest long pips, I have ever seen.

I have recently played a player at my club using long pips, doing things I haven't seen, the ball looks like it is going long or off the side, at the last second, it curves down hitting the table. That happened 3 times in 1 game. I returned 2 of them. The flight of the ball didn't indicate that might happen.

If you can return 2 of them, then a pro will return all of them and with quality.

I also try to play my long pips in a similar attacking way but less well of course.
I use TSP curl p3a-r 1.5 mm which is a soft grippy long pip with wide pip spacing and a hard 55 degrees sponge. With this rubber it's possible to banana flip short under/side. It will give the oponent a very difficult wobbly low fast ball. You can also use it to spin dead/underspin balls; you have to use the working of the soft pips, make them bend and catapult the ball.
It al requires great touch though to do it effectively and Zhang Guochi is of course far better at it than I am.

In the previous post someone mentioned he is using Dawei 388D-1 in ox. Does someone know how the Dawei rubber compares to the curl tsp p3a-r in terms of pip height, grippyness, pips softness and spacing between the pips?

Just watched his match against Kreanga: game 3 (which Kreanga easily won like 11:2 or something) is how I would expect the entire match to be, more or less. Sounds like exhibition match/tournament.

Its an actual tournament. I don't think everyone took it real seriously though, they probably thought it was a good reason to go to Hainan and enjoy the nice weather and beaches.
Ovtcharov lost to a very young looking Chinese player I've never seen, Li XinYang. Li XinYang was also one to beat Zhang Guochi.

This is exactly the style I've been contemplating, except with MPs like 388c-1 or hellcat. I have never heard of him, nor considered a LP with sponge! That might be better than a thin sponged MP...and more familiar. Only thing is, can't imagine doing this with a fast blade. Wow! And in OX.

Watched the mudflap shot again, he is mixing the stroke up depending on the spin he is receiving, obviously Kreanga wasn't reading it properly.

I think they first time face a new LP play style player with offensive LP Style. most shakehand LP players are defender. For rally i just same as short pimple style. and for 3rd ball and when I recieve i was always trying to attact. and if they are not give good return , my FH give them some pressure. sorry for my bad english
