Has everyone been getting very slow access to the forum today, or is it just Australia?

Yes. UK too. Very slow to access pages. Have to go make a cup of coffee for a few minutes each time.

Yep, CPU running at 100%... no idea what's causing it yet, and support is not being helpful in tracking down what the problem is. :swear: :swear: :swear:

Is there anyone here that knows how to track down these issues and can help?

There is no malware on this website, and nothing has changed in the code. Number of visitors is normal, yet the CPU is running at maximum.
Not quite sure where to start at the moment, will continue to investigate, but if anyone can help or offer any clues, please let me know. :(
Note that this issue happened before, a few weeks ago, and magically went away by itself.

Yes, slow yesterday and today.

If it helps, a couple of times I got 'maximal number of connections exceeded' error message. Almost feels like DoS (denial of service) attack :(

I seem to have a 139 avg ping to your site right now, without package loss. This means the connection is alive and even fine.

I would consider there is a mining script running on your server. Can you find what proces is using so much CPU?

Verrry slow. Probably a DDOS attack, or else you're being hammered by search engine spiders like Google's.

Slower than death on crutches over here in the US.

Not knowing what you're running for OS, applications, etc.. makes troubleshooting troublesome :)

Turn on "show kernel times" in task manager. If you get a red line between 95 and 100%, you could have a bad driver.

Slow yesterday, still s l o w today.

If on Windows, Task manager, Processes tab and click on CPU column. This will sort the processes by a measure of how much CPU is being used by each process. If you are lucky the top few image names and descriptions will give you an idea of what is consuming the 100%.

I am really an IBM i (something in between a PC & a mainframe) programmer. but drive a Windows PC as a user to do so.

EDIT: In posting this I got an error that there were too many connections to the MySQL data base by haggisv_haggisv. I then hit the back button, attempted to post and it worked. So there is something happening that means that there are too many connections to the DB - DOS is possible, or existing connections to the DB are not being dropped when they should be.
