I just found out about this Italian girl who plays a very nice combined attacking/blocking game with Dr Neubauer ABS 1,8 mm frictionless anti on BH. There are many videos with her and she is for the moment ranked at 292 in the world, number 3 of Italy’s women.

Based on the sound of her blocks/hits... I'd wager she's using Dr N!

If she was using DMS I am sure they would put out some videos of her. Could be Joola otherwise?

Haha! That's probably true...

Does joola make any FLantis? I think their USA site has more limited products.

For Jamila, she seems to certainly have that 'fiery' italian personality! :D

Those slowmotion replays make it almost impossible to watch, and in this angle there is no benefit from them at all.

I don't think she is a great player too, forehand isn't a winner and backhand is too passive.

I think the match is available without slow-mo’s.

She is 15 years old I think, one of the best in Europe for her age. Not many girls loop FH like that, with a thin touch, lots of spin but not a lot of speed. She seeks a game pattern where opponent pushes back so she can loop against back spin and she wins a lot from that. But of course it can be done even vetter and less predictable.

BH should be passive, that is how one need to play with a frictionless anti, unless you attack back spin. But with the new ABS-ball she will need to be more active with BH against top spin.

That's my general strategy as well. Attack all backspins and play defensively on receiving most top spins. Seems to surprise a lot of the lower ranked players since they can't reliably loop chops. It's supposed to be a 'safe' shot for them, but against the anti/lp combo player... it results in a fast attack coming back!

Same thing that joo and other defenders do. Defend top spins and attack the weaker, forced back spins. Overall. Too bad the anti lost some effectiveness though. Now chopping is almost the better route to take since not a ton of backspin is returned on the blocks. Tougher to force a push unless you're playing super spinny loopers.

I wonder if Jamila has the same coach as Roberto Negro (or perhaps Roberto is coaching her)? There are many similarities: how they serve, service returns with anti on FH, FH looping technique, game pattern. But Robero does not cho like Jamila (thank God).

The only thing i know is that her father played with anti and taught her at the beginning...
Moreover, i think she trains in a federal center in wich Roberto is surely not involved.

Not only her playstyle is naturally good to face passive choppers, but, if i recall correctly, here in Italy we have a young long pips defender girl (about same age as Jamila) who also trains in the center with her. There is also a decent number of female choppers in Italy.
Nonetheless, her performance positively surprised me as well

I should also mention she was 2nd in 2018 senior national championships. Even if i think the level of the competition this year was maybe not so high, that was a really good achievement from her.

Semi-final

Final
