I recently played in a division slightly lower than mine.
It was so hard to chop their damn balls!

Their balls had :
1. No power
2. Was very soft
3 Was spinless
4. Sometimes fast
5. Usually high arcing

How on earth am i suppose to chop that!

Im standing far away from the table after my first chop and then they give me a spinless chop. So for me to get it back of the table, i need to run up to the ball and try to get my stroke behind my body and gently swing it so it goes onto the table with a healthy height and kind of carry it on. And the returned ball i give because i just carried has no spin on it as well.

Im exhausted at chopping these balls. Is there an easier way to chop these balls?

I mean the backhand side is long pips so its easy to do so. But on the forehand, i feel like im running a whole marathon just to return 4 of these balls that become shorter

You'll have to change your tactics and stay closer to the table. I only chop when forced back and my opponent is looping to me. Maybe use the opportunity to practice other strokes.

If they aren't looping the balls hard, why do you run so far back?

Usually those balls are an opportunity to attack. Do you attack at all?

they are pushing them at him not looping

As mentioned, I think you need to rethink your tactics.

Well, he says after his first chop he is far back. So at some point are they looping/hitting to him? The logical thing to do would be to stop retreating so far initially -- and if he is so weak fetching those, why wouldn't the better players just drop him short more often? The standard loop one, push the next etc.

Maybe you are too far from the table to chop, stay closer to the table, other thing it is you might be chopping to the floor, at this "sleepy" balls, you should chop in direction to the table in order to push a little the ball...

In my opinion, defense should be there to handle an offense of great enough force relative to your level. If their shots are difficult to chop because they are too slow etc., use your attack. This will likely make them up the speed of shots and they may make more mistakes as a result. Alternatively, use heavy backspin on your chops with some floats mixed in. Of course, from the sound of it, you would only be able to do this on your forehand (your post implies you use frictionless long pips, and thus can't generate your own spin).

Sometimes standing closer to the table when chopping slow low spin balls can help, as others have stated. As for their no spin pushes, you really need to attack them. If they aren't giving you anything to feed off with your long pips and they are making it hard work to chop with your forehand because of a lack of spin/speed, attack really is the way to go here. An aggressive mix of pushes could help as well (using side spin and varying placement, depth, etc.).

Defender can't defense if The Opponent not attacking.

In this case, time to attack.

One reason I love to play against Ma Long wannabe, but not Waldner wannabe. :)
