Simple question really.

What has been your most disappointing table tennis purchase and why?

Why?

1) They are very expensive
2) They don't stay frictionless that long
3) They are overly angle dependent
4) They don't have good feel (compared to OX LPs)
5) Frictionless LPs, which these antis supposedly replaced, were way better

Considering all its good reviews, the Tibhar CO-S-3 Defence just does not fit the bill for me despite giving it a good few tries with various long pips/inverted setups. Very disappointed :(

I have a lot of regrets.

10. Xiom Stradivarius. Not actually a bad blade, just disappointed in the feel.
9. Butterfly Innerforce ZLC. Never got along with this one, not really sure why, since I used a Mizutani ZLC and most ALC blades for ages.
8. Stiga Innova UL. Ugh. What happened to the spin?
7. Donic Waldner senso carbon. I really tried to like it, but it really wasn't that good.
6. DHS Skyline TG2 and TG3. Underwhelming.
5. All palio rubbers  Probably not as disappointing if I think about how cheap they were.
4. Stiga Energy Wood. Terrible feel (sorry haggisv)
3. LKT Pro XT & XP. Dunno if I overglued it. Was using stiga energy back then. squidgy.
2. Stiga OC CR WRB. Just disappointment. Probably because it weighed mid-60g.

And all time worst purchase for me...

1. OSP Virtuoso. Terrible feel and super slow. And I got a matched pair. Worst purchase ever.

oh, there was an andro blade with balls inside that I pulled splinters out of the fineline top ply pretty quickly. But I think I didnt get along with the balance of that blade.

Blade: S&T Black & White
FH: Omega VII Euro 2mm
BH: Spinlord Orkan 1.5mm
Worst Blade: Firewall plus just weird although a lot of people buy them. Zero dwell and gears!

Rubber: Gipfelsturm medium pips. No touch not much mp effect etc.

Disappointments:

Temper Tech all+ blade. nice blade but Just too soft a feel for pips, no feedback.

Spinlord Waran on bh - very spin sensitive for a short pip. Low margin of error on blocks

Most disappointing rubbers: Butterfly Ekrips, Donic Slick CSS and Nittaku Magic Carbon - the latter for looking worn out quite quickly. I also got disappointed by Tibhar Rapid Soft 1mm, my first short pip for beeing advertised as having good grip, but I positively have used it against other players at that time, more than 30yrs ago.

Worst blade I got was probably an Imperial Allround which broke within the first few hours of use.

Disappointing purchase I - Bad decision:
DHS Skyline TG2.

Why:
I used Hurricane 3 before, and found it to fit my playing really well. The description of H3 says it was developed as a more controlled/less reactive alternative to the Skyline 2 rubber. I found this to be very true. I can do more or less everything with the TG2 that I did with the H3, and with less effort. Attacks are stronger. Trouble is, my consistency is significantly worse when using the TG2, so my overall playing level has dropped.

TG2 is all it is said to be. I guess I am disapponted in myself, more than in the equipment. It still qualifies in this thread, I suppose, as a TT purchase leading to disappointment.
H3 ordered. Changing back shortly. Note to self: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Disappointing purchase II - bad equipment:
Stiga Aqua Energy glue.

Follow link to learn why.

Unlike most (all?) of you I cannot recall having made a disappointing tt purchase.

My theory is that if you are good enough you can play with anything.

Je regret rien.

The anti EJ.
