As someone going into modern defense inspired by the greats such as Joo Saehyuk, Gionis Panagiotis, and Ruwen Filus, I have to choose a good backhand chopping rubber. At the top of my price range are some of the most esteemed L.P. rubbers in the world -- Butterfly Feint Long III, and TSP Curl P1-3/Alpha 3. My question is, which one of these rubbers do you think is best suited for a modern defender? I heard Joo Saehyuk uses Curl P1, Gionis uses Feint Long II, and Ruwen Filus uses Feint Long III... :^)

FL3 or P1R are often used for long range defensive chopping.

Not P3 Alpha, that's more of a blocking LP.

Hi, i have used both Feint Long 3 and Curl P1r.

I find out both long pimples are good for chopper as they are friction pimple and can generate own spin but i prefer feint long 3 as it easy to use and more control. However, curl p1r is more tricky to opponent but need proper technique of chopping otherwise you will be affected by incoming spin.

i believe both long pimples are great for long defense chopper (not for close table blocker) but require certain level of chopper to use and handle them. Practice makes perfect :)

I think Feint Long III is quite a bit slower, which I liked.

Yes, me too. liked it.
Actually, i've come across few types of feint long 3 during my chopping training and i found out that:

1) feint long 3 ox in red (pips is harder and its fast in speed)
2) feint long 3 in red with normal sponge 1.1 (pips is softer and speed is slow)
3) feint long 3 in black with soft sponge 1.1 (pips is softer and speed is slower)

in conclusion, i prefer to use fl3 with soft sponge 1.1 as it gives good feel, reversal and control for chopping motion.

i just wondering why fl3 has 2 types of different sponge in production, one is soft sponge (looks like dampening sponge) and another one is a normal sponge. Any idea? :?:

Hmmmm. I know Feint Long 2 has different sponges. I didn't know they did that with Feint Long 3. I used FL3 with .5 sponge and it chops great (even the dreaded ABS ball). Not so good at the table. Testing Grass D.Tecs with .5 sponge now.
