I am not familiar with palio ck531a.... I thought it was not a very grippy LP.
I understand the reversal on big loops but this dude is putting some much underspin on dead balls (basic pushes)!?!
And he is NEVER twiddling! That LP must be somehow grippy, no?

no, its still less grippy than most popular LP (feints or curls)
palio is know for its reversal and low trajectory

Did you see that match against Xu Xin? Some of the best points I have ever seen in attack vs defence - truly spectacular!

I watched him live today.. Well this guy is a beast. His chops and movements seem so slow and smooth.. But are almost always very low with some unpredictable amounts of spin.

And, although the photo is not superb(it's mine), THE BIG NEWS!)
I can say with about 99% certainty that he uses Palio CK531a.
here's the pic I took(cropped with some light photoshop touch so it could become more readable).

That is excellent investigative work!!!!

I think given he responded to someone earlier that he played with “Polo” pips, “Palio” would be close to that.

I filmed two matches of Ma Te on Bulgaria Open 2018, uploaded one of those on youtube in FullHD 50fps, but it still shows only the 360p option :( (it has been more than 10 hours since the upload).
May be I'll need to reupload it.
So here it is for now:

The fact he rarely twiddles to push on his backhand, and the way he seems to get good underspin on pushes with the LP, I'd say he is probably using Palio CK531a from the yellow packet, rather than the blue or green as these are less grippy than the yellow packet version.

Would you say I'm along the right path by saying this?

Here's the Ma Te vs Xu Xin footage. It's HD 50fps(not FHD cause I didn't have enough space on the memory card).

It's without the timeouts and without the time between games.

Still unsure - should I(probably I should) reupload the previous video(Ma Te vs Habesohn) or not, cause for me it only shows the 360p option :^)

I personally think he reads this forum and said "hey! leatherback has been using that custom combo of palio ck531a and tsp sponge for the past 2 years, i think i should switch to it"

It would be a big coïncidence if the sponge Ma Te is using is the TSP sponge and you both are playing the same combo. You're not telling us all there is to it, are you, leatherback? ;)
