I was able to place the ball quite well last night.
Handle may be a little smaller than i'd like, but didn't really think about it while i was playing.

I wouldn't say they're all the same, in fact all-wood blades differ a lot. While I often can't tell rubbers apart, I'm pretty sensitive to blades. For instance, the Yinhe N6 is a real rocket of a blade, way too fast for me. Main symptom - pushes pop up. I used to play with the N11 - very nice for hitting and looping, OK for pushing but every attempt at chopping the ball ended up way high. My current favorite is the Sanwei M8 - you can get it for $6.50 including shipping. I'll easily put it up against some pretty expensive 7 ply hinoki blades I have (that Darker 7p2a cost way too much..), against my Stiga Allround Classic, against that HRT Clipper I had at one time. I wouldn't say it's "fine work" - it's just an adequately made mass-produced blade, and it doesn't look like much, but it plays really nice. There are probably lots of other blades that play just as nice, but I haven't found them yet (and I'm not really looking any more). A lot of them are too heavy for my taste in any case.

my club just bought a few 729 premades, people are enjoying them, they seem to have high catapult and heavy weight. i would have expected the opposite

Weigh them, we can compare.

How does one measure "catapult"?

I won't be able to measure it's weight, no scales at the club. I do know that my blade is 92g and rubbers are max mark V, and it def felt heavier than that

Ah. That "M8" premade would have been lighter. A LOT lighter. Like 20 grams maybe.

I’ve got an Allround Classic. Hate it. Smallest sweet spot of any blade that I have used. Feels hollow most of the time. I actually think that the Palio Expert blade plays better than it.

Wasn’t the Classic designed in the 1960’s? There have been so many improvements to it like the WRB and Allround Evolution that I don’t know why people are still using the Classic with the 40+ ball.

I haven’t tried the Stiga Azalea yet, but people seem to love it and say that it has amazing feeling and is very light weight.

I too have ordinary allround classic,still good braking effect with ox lp,I was trying it a couple of weeks ago but the f/hand attack was too slow with t05 1.9,(old sheet),I could make better attacks with tsp def blade and same rubber.....the weight varies a lot on these I had one at 70g and one at 85g!

I've also heard the azalea is very good.
This isn't the OG all-round classic. It's the Nostalgia variant, so has a harder wenge outer veneer and is apparently optimized for current balls and a bit faster.
What is a braking effect?

I will definitely keep the Palio Expert, I didn't notice my game jump to a new level but was satisfied with quite a few attempted shots landing on the table, and cross court shots went where I wanted, but Palio handle is nicer for me atm

The problem I have with "catapult" and "dwell" and many other terms people use when describing table tennis equipment is that no one actually defines these terms, there is no actual agreement about what people mean when they use these words, and no one's actually come up with objective ways to measure them. Most of them have to do with "feel", and are therefore fuzzy and vague.

I guess I assumed you can measure catapult the same way as testing if a blade is off+ etc by just dropping a ball and comparing rebound?

Rubber is opinion based, but opinions and consensus aren’t worthless. Not exact but still helpful.

I can definitely tell you that JOOLA Rhyzer 48 has dramatically more catapult (and therefore bounciness) than say Vega Intro (and especially Mark V or H3). Anyone could just drop a ball onto the rubbers from an equal height and observe that.

OK, so bounciness = catapult? Not according to some people - they say catapult helps fast loops while bounciness hurts, say, pushes. Some people say one is the same as the other - what helps fast loops hurts pushes. But others claim so-and-so rubber is great for looping AND not bouncy, so pushes are controllable.

If it's simply how much the ball bounces off the racket face can't we just say a rubber is "fast"? And since Tensors supposedly have "catapult" (even the softer, slower ones like Baracuda) they're all faster than, say, Battle II? For all strokes? So those 729 premades are just faster than expected?
