Hello all,

I'm curious to know what equipment (blade, long pips, forehand rubber) is used by Jerry Dydynski who plays in Chicago.
If anyone knows or can find out, or suggest how I can find out, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Here is Jerry's upset against a 2425 rated player  :

And here he is losing to Pushblocker! ;)

I'm pretty sure he plays out of this club. Perhaps you could send the club a message:

Here he is beating a 2300 guy.

And losing to a 2000 guy.

And losing to a 2200 guy.

And losing to an unrated guy.

And losing to a 2300 guy.

And losing to a 2100 guy on an edge serve.

And beating a 2100 girl.

I give up. There are like 3 pages of his matches on Google. https://www.google.com/search?q=Jerry+D ... 80&bih=691

I'm friends with Arcot, I'm surprised you haven't gotten a reply. Tell you what, I will send messages to some of those guys and see if one of them knows or can get me an answer.

I played Jerry twice.. I believe he played 388D-1 when I played him but I may be wrong.. I played a practice match with him at the US Open and beat him 3:0 and then I played him at the Aurora Cup in Chicago and beat him 3:2.. He has an interesting game, more offensive than mine but his weakness is longer rallies. I usually made the point if the rally lasted longer. I wore him down in the first 2 games and then he was exhausted and I was able to take the last 3 games.
When I play players who just like me are not the most athletic guys, I try to get them into longer rallies to wear them down. Once they are tired, I increase the pace and timing of my shots and put them under more pressure.. If Jerry would be in better physical shape, he would be able to maintain his high rating but just like me, his rating is like a rollercoaster he was in the 2200's 2 years ago and in the 1900's half year ago.. My style as also his are subject to big rating fluctuations with the plastic ball. We can lose to 1900 players but beat 2400's depending on style.

I sent a note to a couple of the guys down there, one of them said that he would ask Jerry. The other person said "Pamela Song uses the same rubber", if that helps.

Yeap...the plastic ball was bad news for long pips players....more weight=less rotation=less reversal=longer trajectory on blocks=need to adjust equipment. But hey, we all learn to adjust. I love that summer is nearing. :P
Anyone who is good at hitting through spin will easily beat our style as also any low spin players..
The reduced spin is killing the lp blocking game.. Luckily, there are still many high rated players that have problems with our style..
