A short while back, Kees wrote a very fascinating and positive short review of Meteor 575 where he said, among other things, "this Meteor medium pip is a delight".

So what happened to Meteor 575? No one else has said a word about it. And googling turns up nothing but a few ebay listings in various countries.

575 sounds like it shares some characteristics of Peacekeeper plus some benefits beyond Peacekeeper.

Is anyone besides me curious? Kees, are you still interested in Meteor 575?

Best regards,
magritte

Well, I'm (recently) interested in medium pips in general, I have no inkling where to source this Meteor 575.

I'm still interested in Meteor 575, but I haven't much to add. I've been trying it out in 2.0 mm lately and found it hard to control, for in this thickness the sponge seems softer and the pips longer... The overall feeling is soft, unstable, fast, and tricky (also for the opponent). The idea was/is setting up the attack with the backhand (short pips) and kill with the forehand (575); since medium pips reverse more than short pips - generally - the kill should be more effective. But I'm not yet convinced this idea really works. The 575 is pretty fast and deceptive, but only effective against opponents who have a hard time playing a consistent topspin game. Anyone who can topspin at will, will adjust his loops. If he does, you seem to be better off with more speed and more control as offered by short pips. There is one more thing; with medium pips you have to strike upwards more, using your underarm rather like you would with inverted when topspinning - this takes time and renders the stroke itself less efficient, in my view. I can see how it would work for women, though; they are up to opponents who will often just counter-drive instead of loop, and in this case the medium pips sure are more deadly.
