Reminds you of those balance beam mobiles that hang from a thread, does it not? It's no accident all the beams curve downwards. The ending was spectacular.

I prefer to play around the "white line" on the TT table better. How about you? :)

By the time you get to where the dog was there's no longer a dropoff - there's level ground right below.

Speaking of pyrotechnics...

That was absolutely grand. I've dabbled with model rockets, and then I got in contact (through Usenet) with people who built giant, four, five, seven foot tall ones with J, K, L class motors, even attended some of their launches. But I never saw anything as spectacular as this, or a motor with a 53 second burn like the ones here, and they most likely even did it with black powder. It even had a recovery system (which I wasn't expecting). This was probably launched during the annual skyrocket festival in Thailand's northeast (not very popular with tourists) - maybe I'll go attend one of these years.

Iskander, there might be some photographs of that by tourists thinking it was a UFO. :P

Also, maybe this is just a test flight before they put someone on it! :?:

I suppose you haven't seen these yet, then, have you... First came across this guy in 2011 or so, there were earlier videos showing how mickey mouse the whole thing was. Coke bottles for fuel tanks, no less.

He finally tries an untethered flight - dons his rubber anti-propeller armor and crash helmet and all...

and gets caught underneath - a pool table? You wonder why he doesn't take it out to the open fields to try it..

By the way - the Udon Thani skyrocket festival is always the second or third week in May. Too late to go this year, I'll plan to go next year.

Out of consideration for the dairy farmers, I am sure. The cows would not give good milk for a year after seeing - or hearing - that contraption.

Besides, with the size and shape of the thing, the only way to move it from that place to an open field is probably to fly it (yeah, right!).

That wheel rocket impressed me, though. Had I been there I would also be scared shitless (pardon my French), but still awestruck. Thanks for sharing!
