Interesting to note that at the recent ITTF tournament in Germany, the ITTF went to great expense to bring over American referee Kagin Lee, rather than use one of many qualified European referees. Why would they do this? With Lee poised to possibly take over the top job at the USATT, maybe Adham and his accomplices want to get Lee conditioned to accepting freebies?

Got a couple of news items...

The final three candidates in the latest ITTF table tennis announcer contest are: Adam Bobrow (USA), Barbara Wei (USA) and David Wetherill (GBR).

Bobrow is best known as the guy who did that silly dance in that YouTube video. Wetherill is also a YouTube star (he's that handicapped guy with the cane who made that diving shot in the Paralympics). Barbara Wei seems the most knowledgable, so I voted for her.

A new long pips rubber from Der-Materialspezialist is now available.

Image

Here's the description:

With PREDATOR der-materialspezialist developed a long pimple rubber which has only one target: HUNT and FEET!

PREDATOR hunt with his long ripper tooth every kind of spin and eat the attacking efforts of his reval.

His genetic code offer an perfect row of thees whith a special synchronized surface.

This singular condition permitted PREDATOR a powerfull counter attack by every passiv behaviour of his prey.

But the PREDATOR can also act slow and controlled.

Lurking to the perfect moment he is back to punish his disputant with ugly curl effects and incalculable swirling balls.

A perfect PREDATOR prey relationship.

Available in red and black in orthodox (OX) and with 1,0mm Sponge.
Tempo: 45
Control: 92
Disruptive effect: 96

------------------

I like Der-Materialspezialist LSD (which I'm currently using), but didn't care for Undertaker so much. We'll have to wait for reviews to see where Predator fits in. Can't tell much from the description.

As always, I love the cover. Der-Materialspezialist always has terrific artwork.

Yes, great artwork and a cool description... a lot of manufacturers could learn from them.

Interesting artwork, indeed. I guess it's a female anglerfish. The Oatmeal has an interesting comic about these strange creatures.

I know Andro will be using that video to try and market their new rubbers designed to play with the Polyball but it looks promising regardless. If I hadn't known that was the new ball, I absolutely wouldn't have been able to tell that it wasn't celluloid.

Adam Bobrow has been named as the winner of Voice of Table Tennis 2.0. What could be more appropriate than a clown representing the clowns at the ITTF?

 But to be honest: I liked him and voted for him. I listend to a small part of the video from all three candidates and I found him the most enjoyable to listen to.

I think he might be one of the few lads that you could apply good old "don't judge a book by its cover" saying.
