Well this isnt the first topic of its kind but...

I'm looking for a backhand rubber that's spinny and as fast as possible from this selection:

1. 729-5
2. Dawei Super Power XP
3. Palio Emperor Dragon (Biotech)
4. Palio Hidden Dragon (Biotech)
5. Sanwei T88-I

My backhand consists of fast punch blocks when close to the table and loops further from the table. I'm left handed so my backhand is often playing against the forehand of right handed players, hence why i need the power to be able to compete until i can either hit a winner or move round for a forehand and attack.

Other rubbers can also be suggested I am open minded but also a bit of a cheapskate so value is really important to me! :D

I have 729-5 on my backhand and was just playing with it, its great for punch blocks near the table and is pretty powerful too, and I've only used this rubber from the list that you have. It produces excellent spin so it shouldnt fail you.

i thought 729-5 was kind of mushy. I'd take 2008 xp for more power at distance

Sriver EL (Non-tensor)

Donic Barracuda (Tensor)

Very generic choice.

I've only tried two; 729-5 and 2008 xp. I would say 729-5 is spinnier, faster, heavier and harder (with a lower throw). Can't comment on 3,4,5. 729-5 is quite a nice rubber actually.

You could consider Gambler Outlaw. It's faster than any of those. It's great for hitting on forehand, so I'd expect it to be good for punching on BH too. It's plenty spinny on brush loops, and loops well away from the table too.

I've looked at Outlaw and would love to try it but i can't find anywhere that sells it in the UK.

If anyone knows where I can get it then that would be greatly appreciated!

Just wondering what people think of Shark 2 tuned, how would you compare it to 729-5 and Outlaw?

a good sheet of Shark II tuned, red sponge, is probably the best backhand rubber i've ever used...

but they vary so much from sheet to sheet, i gave up on it

Ok based on the advice given here I've gone for the 729-5.

I really hope it works for me because at £10.50 for two sheets in red it is a cheap rubber to fall in love with!

Thanks to everyone for the advice and I may yet give superpower 2008 xp and shark 2 tuned a chance in the future :)
