Yes, I am now *Barely* good enough to exclude myself from that class of players that some like to continually denigrate as having obvious technical deficiencies and not knowing how to hit the ball properly (well, I am the first to admit that I still don't hit the ball properly and have technical deficiencies, but I do hit it okay once in a while despite such deficiencies).

Would like to post a couple of matches with the same opponent, one from my 1500 days and one recently in my 2000 push.

Give you a good advice if you want to be over 2000 USATT player. If you like a certain setup u have right now or you had before stick to it!!!!
Players who do get better, perhaps slower but more consistent, sort of like stocks. If you change rubbers and blades often you are basically adjusting to the new setup for 6 months before you even get any results get better, while sticking with one blade and same rubbers for years will give you best results.

Thanks,
Martin

Thanks for the advice, Martin. I am a bit of an EJ, but I have been pretty stable in the last 8 months.

I have broken USATT 2000!

Would like to thank my coach, my practice partners, TTEdge and lots of players and people who gave me advice that would be too many to mention - these things are never done alone as even your opponents have to give you the balls you know how to hit  .

Haggisv, iacas,

Thanks. I would be lying If I didn't say it was a big deal for me, though I know to some people, it is a relatively low rating. It took significant work and sacrifice so I hope there is Stoll low hanging fruit out there for me. Thanks again.

Congrats on getting over 2000. Now the hard part. Staying over 2000. Do that for the next 4-5 tourneys and then you can say you are a 2000 level player. Good luck.

NextLevel: I noticed from your videos that you hardly bend your knees. I used to do the same (only a slight bend which I thought was enough) until someone pointed it out to me. I worked on bending my knees a lot more, and I noticed immediate improvements to me game, without any down side. Give it a try, see if it works for you. ;)

Arthritic knees threw that out the window a long time ago. Once in a while on a beautiful day, I decide I feel great and train as if I have no knee issues or don't use knee braces and play as if I have no knee issues and either with an injury that day or the next, I get a reminder as to why I play the way I do. I do situational bending for specific balls largely because I am tall, but the knee bending ship left me behind a long time ago. It's the primary reason why my forehand is much weaker than my backhand. Today, I actually tried to do help a friend do drills when I didn't have to move that much, but hurt my knee slightly while moving to the ball. My home club doesn't have wooden floors either so no help.

Sorry to hear that.. that's a real nuisance for sure. Still, table tennis is one of those sports where you can still excel despite any physical issues one might have, which I guess you've proven already!

NextLevel, after watching the 2 videos, it is really clear how much you have improved. Great job!!!

There is also some good advice in this thread...I like it.

You need to change your name to nextnext level
keep up the great work.

Im a poor listener so I have never had a coach in my life,
I never do drills for myself but I found playing more interclub/ league type matches on a weekly basis
somehow got me to the top 100 here for the first time in my life
