I've started testing Victas VO > 102 in 1.8mm and Max along with several others:
Nittaku Moristo SP Ax
Andro Blowfish+
Andro Hexer Pips+
Victas VO > 102
Sauer&Tröger Hass
TSP Spinpips RED
Der Materialspezialist Firestorm
GAMBLER GXS
Nittaku Beautry
Spinlord Waran
JOOLA Express Ultra

Initial impressions of this rubber in max are that it's likely the fastest SP of this group. Soft, grippy, and very accurate. Similar to Nittaku Moristo SP Ax and JOOLA Express Ultra, though it lacks the clickiness of the JOOLA SP. The max version is a little too reactive to incoming spin when blocking loops which is what prompted me to also get it in 1.8mm. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the 1.8mm shaved 8.5g off my paddle weight compared to max. If the 1.8mm spins and blocks like I think it will it's going to be a hard SP for me to put down. More results later..

Just back from my local TT club and 3hrs playing with VO > 102 1.8mm. I like it even more than the max. The 1.8 version has plenty of spin and didn't bottom out once. Nice sound on harder hits (I briefly had Spinpips RED 2.0mm out tonight and it plays silently compared to VO > 102). Control with the 1.8 was excellent.. I was placing the ball around the table at will and dropping short, spinny serves just over the net with ease.

But the best benefit for me is the lighter weight! If you've never compared the weight of two thicknesses of the same rubber then you might not know that some rubbers differ only 1-3g between different thicknesses, so the 8.5g difference here is noteworthy. With this 1.8 SP, my paddle weight dropped from around 169g to 161g which allows my BH flicks and serves to attain faster rotation while causing less fatigue over an extended play session. If you're nursing old injuries to your playing wrist/elbow/shoulder like I am you will no doubt appreciate every gram of weight reduction.

I assume it is still good in the blocking department, not too reactive too incoming spin??

Any bottoming out when blocking very hard hits??

More testing needed in this area.

Quick session with Victas 102 last night.

very impressed initially

blocked just as well as my spectol red
hitting was awesome and i reckon faster than spectol red and flatter, but this may have been a freshly glued affect and euphoria of trying something new
the flat hits and drives off short balls was really really good
bh topspins felt easier and felt like there was some spin there.
was very easy to adjust to from spectol red.

one thing i did notice it was much easier to do a short tight bh serve down the line, the ball was staying so low and short (this is very important for me as i rely on tight serves a lot)
it was also very very good at short play, felt similar to waran and waran II in this respect, i could rely return short serves low and tight.

I think the softer sponge made it easier than waran II on openers and rolls just seemed to hold the ball a little better

felt no slippage, which i often felt when blocking with waran and waran II

only played about 45 minutes so needs further trial, however I feel happy enough to play with in a match tonight.
and if that goes ok going to try it at a tournament on saturday

i just hope it was not too much new equipment euphoria and hope it feels as good as initial test on next attempts

maybe this could cure my ejing once and for all

i think this could be a hidden gem of a short pimple that not many players know about!!

I used Victas last night in a match aginst 3 opponents I am expected to beat.

WOW it is so fast on bh even in 1.8.
I think it plays too much like inverted for me, for now I am going back to Spectol Red.

I will re visit the Victas at the end of the season.

If anyone is looking for a fast and spinny short pimple I could highly recommend the Victas 102

All these posts make this sound like the holy grail!

One question, does it feel crisp? How hard is the topsheet, how hard is the sponge (relative to others)?

The sponge is soft, the top sheet is also soft and pliable and feels grippy.
The speed on hits is awesome and it sounds fantastic, the sound makes it seem quicker IMO.
It is very very crisp, I would say it id the fastest SP I have tried from Spectol, Spinpips Red and Blue, Waran and Waran II and Degu.
I think the sponge makes it faster then the others, although I would say it is very similar in play to Waran II.
It is very good at short pushes etc though, and this attracts me and may encourage me to convert to it from Spectol in the summer

I just think it plays a bit too much like inverted possibly for me at the moment.

There is something about the little pips and wide spacing I like on the Spectol Red

Sounds the perfect short pip for the FH for someone coming from inverted.

Sound too fast for the BH where it is better for me at least to have a slower more disruptive pip.
