11-0. I just have to get faster. There is one evil fast backspin serve that gets me. But I recommend anyone playing Brett's serve watch his video on swing and contact point for the serve on TTEDGE. Might make your learning curve much shorter.

How do you find Trevor's blocking? I think the blocking modules are something that will help if used frequently. It's not just a matter of working it out, it needs to be a regular part of training.

We are aiming to have an update every Sunday from now on. This isn't a promise, just an intention.

The block modules are so much harder and faster than the topspin modules that after doing the block modules, I can actually wait to look at William hit the ball on the topspin module and still look pretty fast at level 5. I think the point scoring on the block is more lenient because you have time to guess after the ball hits the table - it's that hard and that's a good thing. Going to be using that a lot more than the topspin going forward.

Thanks NL. Can you confirm that version 3.1.8 isn't crashing any of your phones now?

I like the blocking modules as well, especially the backhand. It's great to be able to just focus on the racket and know you are learning those subtle angles. Trevor's block is really standard too so I think the learning is very relevant for playing a wide variety of players. Both William's and my block will be in there eventually too. The next modules will be me playing topspin.

IOS update still isn't processed by Apple. I was hoping it would be available today as the previous update was done in 12 hours.

Oh so that's the ONE advantage apple has over Android :P

Oh well, Android doesn't crash much and works on so many devices....we'll accept that

I think another thing that would be helpful would be a training mode where one can revisit the serve that one just attempted and where one can attempt serves without getting scores. It doesn't have to be a slow motion replay even if that may be ideal - a replay is okay.

I'm liking the direction this app is headed! The new background color is nice - looks like some icon clean up is next but I like the direction there.

The serving module is really taking off. Looks like we're getting close to being able to record others/ourselves and play against that too. I know far far away, but closer.
Seriously it makes me want to record some pen holders (in secret if I must) I play against and plug them into this app.

Thanks NL, a replay has been on the list for a while, so this is good confirmation. I'm going to take a look at how a slow mo replay looks soon.

wilkinru, thanks for the feedback. What do you specifically mean by "icon clean up".

Played the top guy at our club last night. He's rated 1200 RC, not sure US as couldn't find Rebs, forum ranking post to work it out.
Was happy overall how I played taking one set easily but for the most part I struggled with his short pendulum serve. Its not highly spinny just subtle between back and top spin making me either just dump in net or pop it up for easy smash. When I did pick it, often I wasn't confident enough and played a half shot with the same result.

I'm filling in for a different team next week and play the same guy again.

How much per night do you think I would need to spend on the app per night over the next week to make reasonable gains with the pendulum serve?

Digressing slightly, with short backspin I would just make a short push which was effective, however how should I deal with short topspin? I was just really taking the same approach by bunting back short.

We are going to add a slow mo instant replay that will autoplay after you misread a serve. You'll be able to disable it if you want. We will also add the option of just watching the serves at normal speed whilst having the type of spin displayed on the screen.

There is no conclusive answer to your question however I'll share my thoughts. I know that training a little daily is better than training a lot once off. I'd personally be spending 10-15 minutes every day with Trevor and my pendulum serve modules. I'd be focused in to the area where the racket meets and ball until I just knew what spin is on the serve.

Dealing with short topspin can be quite tricky. Learning good flick mechanics is an excellent start. I'd also want to be sure that the serve is actually short. I've played TT for a long time and I struggle to serve short topspin with consistency, so I'm guess your opponent may be having similar issues. Try waiting with the intention of making a loop and see if it really bounces twice.
