Sorry Speedplay
I have heard so many in here talk about it, how good is it and what are the data of it. Control, Speed and so. Is it Carbon or all wood ?
What is the price and where can i get one ?
Any review would be nice.

Speedy.

I have one but have not played with it lately... It is very good value for the price and I don't mean just on the price aspect but also playability. I'm planning to write a review for it but it's on down my list so it might take awhile...

Finding one right now might be a bit tricky. Why don't you try looking at the TT Directory (link below on my sig) and if you still couldn't find one, let me know. I might be able to find you one when I have the time....

Cheers!!!

hhhmmmm..... did you get the new one or planning to?
I'll be interested in the comparison between the two. should be only the balance shifts and/or stability...

Rob at affordable stocks the new version.

I just went and had a look see... It's very tempting... Solid, longer & thicker handle... Exactly the things I found lacking on my Wavestone. The wavestone I got, though play very good is the only blade which gives me the most callouses due to it's handle...

Very tempting...

Thanks for the info, does anyone have a link to the dealers ?
What is the speed of this blade ?
In playing JO silver 2.0 FH and Globe 999 (normal version) 1,5 bh and i do like the combination of these rubbers would that suit this blade ?
The Globe is slow when receiwing but contains fair speed when using full power..

Speedy

FAST!
OFF+ according to the blade's specification.

When I first got it, it was too fast for me. After playing a few weeks I retired it and played with slower blade. It was good but too fast, I was doing too small/compact strokes and not doing my part physically so I thought that it would hinder my learning and development.

Now (the last time I played with it for 2 nights @ 1-2 hours each about a month or two ago - Mark V ad + Ekrips Soft), it felt good... (My skill improvement also helps in appreciating the blade now). I would have spend more time with it, but currently am busy with trying new blades... I will revisit my old blades, including this one, later after I'm through testing with the new blades.... :D

The biggest flaw for me was the handle size, too short and thin. Adding grip helps with thickness.

Now, this is all from a distant memory. If I have to rate it, I'll have to go with 8 (out of 10) based on distant memory of playing with the blade.

Two online sites already mentioned earlier above are:
1. colestt.com
2. affordablett.com.au

it seems that there are and old and an new version of the Wavestone.
Is it only a different handle or is there other differences ?
Does the old version have a small handle or what ?
Has anyone tried the new one ?

Please anyone.

Peter C, who posts at DTTW and AffordableTT, had an older version and filled the handle. You surf on that way and ask him personal like, or it would be cool if Peter C posted here as well. He is a solid TT player and good gent. I think Silver has some experience doing the same thing. (I don't there are many blades and rubbers out there that Silver or his mates haven't tried out) (He might make it as a sub-contracting TT proving grounds for TT products, if he isn't already doing that)

I hae tried the Dawei GTS, a carbon Off control that Dawei rates as OFF+, but is more like OFF -. I also fiddled around with the Dawei GTO, a carbon/arlyte replacement for the venerable BTY TBS. That one felt only a tick or two faster, more like the low end of OFF. If the Wavestone is anything like the GTO, it is not nearly as fast as advertised. But then again, feel and confidence in playing with the blade are so under-rated, yet among the most important factors in deciding upon a blade. Too bad that is such a subjective determination percieved differently by everyone.

I have the old version and haven't tried the new version my self, but from the reviews on it, it seems to act pretty much the same as the old one, with the one exception that it is a tad slower. Its also a couple of gm's heavier then the old one.

I'm tempted to get one, but its a lose-lose situation for me, cause if I like it, I have to buy one more as I need a spare blade and I would also have 2 old version Wavestone that I would need to get rid off. If I don't like it, then why the heck should I buy it in the first place

Thinking about this, once one of my Wavestone blades breaks, I will probably buy the new version to try out.

Speedplay, where did you see the reviews?

It's also kind of lose-lose scenario for me. Seems like no one is selling it here locally. The local dhs/729 agent used to import Dawei stuff (where I got my Wavestone) but he told me that he got burnt by Dawei so he's not importing them anymore.

To get it from out of the country, the price is too expensive. About twice as much as my old version. I don't think the new version worth twice as much as the old one...

I might try filling the WRB with stuff as shown by the other thread (I already saved the thread) sometime later and revised my old Wavestone to 1.1 version....

:P

It's another nice Aussie forum, but don't you dare turning your back on OOAK forum because of this place

Thanks for the link Speedplay...

Looks like I'm going to hold onto the old one for now... I might try the filling thing later on when I get back to the Wavestone.

Getting a new one from overseas is not really cost effective.

And looks like the majority of the people at the other forum is the same here... So I'm going to be here for awhile... it's not that easy to get rid of me....
