Got a few sample OX pimple rubbers from Giant Dragon, and among them their new Attack Long. Here are a few pictures:

As you've probably noticed, it has a cloth-type backing, so it appears to be specially designed for OX use. The sheet tends to curl a little odd too, probably also due to the backing.

It's definitely a long pimple, but they don't quite look like full length. They feel fairly stiff. The basesheet, including the backing, feel thicker than normal. The cloth backing certainly makes it easier to glue. I glued it onto the Tachi + blade and had a short session with it.

The pimples feel quite grippy, and the reversal is not that high. On the other hand the extra grip make it good for attacking, and it had enough grip to attack dead balls. Speed is about medium and it does not feel that springy.
Blocking against loops produced fairly dead balls unless I chop-blocking, which produced good backspin. The extra grip makes it a little hard to keep the ball down as the balls don't come off quite a low as with dtecs. They rubber seems better at actually counter-hitting which produces knuckle balls, so you can't hit too hard.

Away from the table, chopping was quite good, but it does not produce as much backspin as Dtecs (most don't).

The big bonus is that more balls can be attacked... a little flick of the wrist can even attack dead balls, and even topspin balls can be counter-hit, producing fairly dead balls.

More when I play my next session...

It looks to me like Yasaka Phantom 0012 the way you describe the rubber...

Dead balls and attack... Maybe I try it on my Tuvalu...

Cheers

From memory the 0012 are softer and more grippy, although they may well suit a similar style of play.

Interesting! How's the speed compared to Talon OX or 755 OX? How's the weight with that cloth backing?

No, 'Attack Long' is printed on the rubber, and this is also on the ITTF list.

I feels slower than both and less springy. I'm sure it's heavier than most OX sheets, I did not weight it.

I don't know if it does...if it does it would probably not have the thick backing, and may play quite different.
