I can’t believe after many successful gluing of OX long pips over the years, I wrecked NOT ONE but TWO sheets of my favourite BT long pips when gluing over the weekend. I use a non-stick sheet between the rubber and blade and work my way up from the handle little by little releasing the sheet under the rubber as I work my way to the top of the blade. On both attempts there was a terrible mishap when initially aligning and adjusting the rubber at the handle with the rubber sticking to itself and crumbling therafter making it impossible to undo.
Just proves gluing OX long pips is always tricky even when in the knowhow

Yes, it does happen sometimes even if you are very careful.You could try to stick a gluesheet to the pips so the rubber won't wrinkle.Then, the rubber gets firm.Next, you stick the rubber to the blade with a roller.Finally , carefully unstick the gluesheet you applied to the pips . .

Standing by you in your frustration . At some point in our lp life many of us have felt the same as you,.... .

Maybe those BT did not deserve you!!

Thanks CharDef. Just wanted to share my tale of woe and frustration I have been contemplating how to keep the OX sheet firm when gluing to prevent it from folding and thereby sticking to itself. The glue sheet sounds a good suggestion for this OX LP is full of challenges from gluing to playing with and playing against it. That's why I love LPs.

Be careful to stick the least sticky side to the pips (the side attached to the blade). If not the sheet can damage the pips when removing due to the stronger glue-effect on the "rubber-side" of the sheet.

I'm ashamed to admit the fact I play with a thin sponge is at least in part so I won't have to deal with the hassle of OX gluing anymore!
