Hello Forum Members,

I am after suggestions for a fast long pimples in OX, preferably with medium grip.
I've played with D'tecs, the speed is excellent but the grip is to low for an all round active game
Ive played with Feuestich, the speed is great but the grip is to high, making it easy for my opponents.

Does any one have any suggestions for a fast ox Long Pimple with medium grip??

Have you tried the Feint Long 2? Compared to D'tecs it's a bit slower and less funky but allround it gives more options. Personally I'd say in comparison I could do anything I want with the D'tecs but I could do anything I want with almost every type of ball when using Feint Long 2. But I prefered the balls more dangerious than the Feint Long 2 myself.

Side note: Feintt Long 2 can still create some seriously dangerious chops but you have to work for it to produce the danger. D'tecs does it for you. So you go from do little to work your ass off with every stroke. You can't go halfway with Feint Long 2 even against a mediocre opponent.

Hi Carpe Noctem,

Yes I have tried BTY FL2. While this is a good all round LP, I found it too slow to put my opponents under time pressure. I play an active hybrid game where i use my LP for flicks, hitting, bumps and chopping. To do this I need a fast LP. Currently i am using S+T Schmerz which is an excellent all round LP but a little slow. Thank you for your suggestion though its much appreciated.

Yeah I understand completely. I really hope someone has a good alternative for you, I was looking for the same for my other blade.

I recommend either of the following (based on what I've owned/tried, and my perception of it)

  • Double Fish 1516 (Tried several times - Seemed good for flicks)
  • Bomb Talent (Own and Currently play with - Highly Recommend)
  • Dawei 388D-1 (Own and Currently play with - Good Allrounder)
  • 729 755 (Owned this in the past ... I found it to be fast .. honestly, I could not figure-out how to play with it... I gave it to a fellow club-m8, and it was perfect for him, since he could hit through spin, with it)

Hi Ootbs,

Of your list of 4 long pips, which do you consider to be the quickest?
I’ve tried 388D 1 and 729 755 and I consider them to be about mid range in speed.
How fast is the bomb talent?
I’m looking for a fast long pip to use in an all round game to put my opponents under time pressure.
Thanks for your input it’s much appreciated.

Cheers
Rob

Agreed ... Dawei 388D-1 is medium-slow ... Bomb Talent is perhaps a notch faster,... As for the ones I found faster ... umm.. I can't decide between 729 755 and Double Fish ...The only rubbers, I've played with, on the same blade are the 388D-1 - and Bomb Talent.. The speed and type of the blade too plays a part in the way I perceive speed and performance... For example - I found the 388D (general termed as a slowish LP) + XVT Hinoki Balsa Carbon, to be quite fast ..

Hi Rob It almost sounds like you ought to try a medium pip rubber with very thin sponge perhaps the new Barner one in 1.0mm sponge. Coming from SP & MP I find most LP's far to slow for an aggressive game perhaps due to the trend for soft pips, except DtecS and Meteorite (both with sponge) which have harder pips . I recently tried all round premium 2 and was surprised how slow it was compared to DtecS both with sponge and OX as the pips are quite soft.

Sponge on DtecS e.g 0.9mm or 1.2mm gives better attacking options and more grip especially in black. The red is a bit faster with less grip and control. Tempted to try Schmerz in black with 0.5mm sponge and booster glue on my harder Bloodhound blade - good review on geblock TT You tube

Anyone have any experience with Nittaku Do Knuckle in OX? I've used it but only with sponge.

How about something like C8?

Based on reviews I have read, Globe 979 and GD Snowflake are both fast for LPs. Globe 979 is known for its attack ability, so its grip should be at least medium.

After D Tecs Talon is the next fastest I have used,I found it noticeably faster than 979,388d-1,Bomb Talent,c8.
Turtle Autumn3d and 837 mystery are quicker according to ttdd.de,Giant Dragon attack sounds interesting

Xiom Vega LPO , as fast as Grass DTecs...LPO is definitely one of the very best for both attacking and chopping and very deceptive.

In my opinion definitely the fastest Long Pimples is Tibhar Grass D'Tecs

We even opinion about it. You can find some info on our blog, but this is in Polish language so you can use a translator: Tibhar Grass D'Tecs - opinie

After Grass D'Tecs next in my opinion is Der-Materialspezialist Rebellion

The fastest long pip I played with is the FS 837 ox. No one is faster. I always tried it, but can´t control it. Would be a dream to control it, maybe on a slow blade.

So Rob did you end up settling on the andro rasant chaos 0.5 as a result?

I would love to see some match play from you, I'm curious if it's what I am considering to play like if ever I cannot continue as I am now. 1-4ft and using the LPs to actually attack, block, open up etc while still having reasonable defensive capabilities if needed.

I've also heard some good things about the Rasant Chaos
