Most players play black on FH i think. Especially when they play chinese rubbers

Nonetheless,not all the players use Chinese rubbers
.Then,there must be another reason for using P1V in red .

I do not know what this means as I am not aware of any limitations & what exactly you mean when you say choppers have to work with much much worse than predecessors.

Was there some rule change that I am not aware of ?

For example,p1v is not the same as p1r.p1v is slower.Maybe the topsheet is the same but the sponge is definitely different.P1r gives much more rotation to the ball when chopping-P1r is much more difficult to control.

The plastic ball has made the defensive game less efficient compared to the celluloid ball.Be it blocking or chopping.Now you can understand why so many LP users have turned to the anti topspin strategy .Those who still enjoy the pip play regardless of the disadvantages , say that they have tried to either change their strategy ( be more aggressive) or find a new blade that can improve the pip reversal,be it via speed or stiffness of the blade.

Both the length of the pips and the spacing have been reduced,why?....the intention is clear...... to harm the defensive style ........ do not ask me either what we should or should not do about this,.... or what the IttF should do or should not do about this ,.....

Only when the tt brands start losing money will the rules in favour of a defensive style change....in the meantime, just be happy buying the new colors ,which seems to be the most important topic now .

Which year was the actual 'length" of the pips itself was reduced ?

Because maybe the black spinny inverted rubber (that most choppers use on other side of a long pip combo racket) can generate more spin than red spiny inverted ?

I tried both p1r and p1v, its the exactly the same rubber, the difference is the same like with old and new TSP curl p1r. Additionally I have noticed the general rule that even if you just reglue the same rubber again on the same blade it wil not feel the same because the glue is fresh and the feel will change when you first try it and after a couple of days. As for durability, from my experience this rubber last forever unless you are playing on such a high level that attackers literally rip the pips from your blade. But on amateur level I think it will last forever... Also about the colour: red is slower and more frictionless than black...

The theory is that black rubbers are slightly more grippy than red rubbers. In which case, a red LP will have more reversal and a black LP will be able to generate more spin.

Whether or not this is true, I don't know. If it is, the differences would be small.

If I'm using Chinese rubbers, e.g. H3, I'll always play black. Those rubbers just don't seem right in red and you'll never see any top Chinese player (apart from Ma Lin for a bit I think?) using these in red. This then determines that I have to play red LPs.

However if I'm not using Chinese rubbers, I prefer black LPs. Joo used to do this; red Tenergy on FH then black P1-R on his BH. If it's good enough for him, it's probably good enough for me. And literally every other defender to have ever played this game

If I buy a new p1v curl, I open the box to let it get air. Does it suffer any wear or do I have to play with it?

I don't like the new long pips, I like that they are old.

I think that the Victas culr p1v is a bit grippier than TSP Curl p1r

and slower.....imo they are NOT identical rubbers-I tested both in the same blade.P1r is far more difficult to master .

yes charmander, P1r is more faster, more dangerous.

I suspect that the sponge of the victas is softer

I am thinking in buy a P1v and attach a sponge harder (0,5 and 56-58º hardness

I also hope that when the victas get older it will be more similar to the TSP... otherwise I don't know what I'm going to do.

In 2024 P1r will be unauthorized.

I have tried with Superwall, Stiga Horizontal 55 and Donic Spike p1 as possible substitutes of P1r but
the tests were bad.

Maybe I try with Donic Piranja 0X.

I agree with dunc regarding while many players use red on the LP side. I use red/blue/green mainly because I like black on my FH. I doubt it makes much of a difference in overall terms at my level.

I have played with TSP Curl P1R 0,5  for 15 years

it seems to me that the pips are thicker in the TSP Curl P1R and you can generate more spin and variation,
TSP is more faster. Victas is more gripier.TSP is more dangerous.
I think that the sponge of TSP is more harder.
Are very different!
