Now since I've gotten notice that I will move to Korea, a doctor in my city pops up as a TT player pretty close to my level. I was over at his house last night and broke out my OOAK purchased LP bat from my sig. My results were identical to how I play inverted. Got nearly zero points from my pips, maybe setting up a few attacks at most. It will either remain a scouting outfit, or require some serious training and dedication to use it worth anything.

Speedplay makes a great point. If, in your early attempts with them, your level is pretty much the same, that's a great sign. That means that your learning curve should allow you to improve pretty quickly from there, because you won't take any steps back, which is more typical!

While you might not be a pro soon, I'm happy to hear that you have both a doctor and a nearby TT mate to practice with, Der!

I'm sure you already knew that LP aren't a short cut to success, but if you already make the same results with them as you do with a double inverted set up, then perhaps it is something you should consider?

My thoughts exactly!

As of now, that setup is for strictly scouting LP and playing around where nothing is at stake. I play pretty much the same game. Try to place serve return with BH, then attack the return. Serve something different from what it looks, then seek to attack the return. Majority of strokes hit with FH. Majority of blocks w/inverted FH. One thing different is that I serve & twiddle for a surprise that can get me 1-2 points a game, or use inverted to BH loop a serve for a surprise.

My pushing with the LP is no where near battle ready. I would hate to have to play a sanctioned match with it. At my level, I can get away with the high push somewhat, because the opponent attacks it without knowing the spin and misses enough. When I get to korea, there should be no shortage of players who can loop over and over to train the chopping and blocking. Who knows, maybe I get some decent practice at it, even if I am just giving a partner some chances to practice FH looping.
