Hey, I'm a member of a few other forums too. On Head-Fi (audio equipment), they implement a minimum post requirement (15 within a "new arrivals" section) on new members before they are allowed to post anywhere else.

Would cut out a lot of the "almost real fake money" adverts around here.

Just a thought.

It's a good thought, but at the moment I think we have spam under control. We block a lot of IPs from potential spam areas, we have quite strict registration process, where the member needs to answer a question about table tennis to get through (which stops most spammers), and we have an active team of moderators that kills off spam almost immediately.
The method that you describe is inbuilt in the software, but risks potential new (genuine) members from posting as they can't work out what to do, so I don't think we need it as yet.

You sure it's under control lol?

It's NEVER completely under control, some will always get through as you've seen. Most spammers that get through, use a actual person to register, then use software to spam the forum. That's hard to stop.

Yeah I know how it is. It will always be an uphill battle. More restrictive post requirements would mean real people who want to join the forum might lose interest (which is the last thing you'd want imo). Just thought it was funny the bot spammed in this post. But indeed as lasta said, keep up the good work.
