Post subject:  Baidu captcha?

Hey,

I'm getting a weird captcha request every time I come to this website. Ublock says "captcha.su.baidu.com". Is this something on OOAK's side or the China firewall?

Looks like cloudflare captcha, which is something this forum has implemented to try and fight spambots. You should only be asked once per week if you're in a high-risk spam region, and unless you keep changing IPs. This only goes for the highest risk spam regions, everyone else will never see this.
It's an unfortunate necessity, without it this place would be swamped with bots and no one will be able to access it.

Hi,

I have to unlock the captcha almost every other day, which I find quite frustrating. Is there any way to make it less frequent?

It should be only once a week. I've dropped the security level a step down, hopefully that makes it better?

You're not using a Tor browser are you? That would set it off more often, as it's mostly used by spammers (which is unfortunate for legitimate users!).

If you're using a VPN set to a country with high spam rates, it will also trigger more often.

This Baidu captcha makes me really crazy sometimes. I know that you can get the special software to bypass this captcha check, but I'm not sure if it is working properly, never tried. In most cases, a captcha protects the site from DDOS attacks. It is like you are using the generate temp phone number service to annoy the person via phone calls, and he set only a contact list filter, so in order to call him, you need to be in his phone book. Otherwise, your call will be blocked.
